I really did think I had found her and thought it was part of her life she hadn't told us about but on reflection I had doubts. I'm even doubting if the sisters were born in Scotland at all.  Once again thank you.  She was a bit of a character in life and now I think we're getting the run around after her death. Will post if I find out anymore.  Sorry for any confusion. :) xxx

She never spoke of going to England and she said she worked on a farm when she was a young girl. I worked in a weaving factory in Belfast and spoke about it to her and she never mentioned that she worked as a cotton weaver.  I got the impression that she worked in service all her life, and was in Wales when her son was born in 1944.  The dob in Stirling was 1895.  She was born 1902 poss 1903. She never mentioned other siblings except Mary and Lizzie. Tho' I suppose it doesn't mean she didn't have any others. Possibly they went to Wales before her.
That is why I don't think it's my mother-in-law.  If you think it is faulty thinking on my part I would be glad to hear from you.  I do appreciate the help you have given me very much. :) xxx

The name of the parents on this new finding are Robert and Annie Shearer. Robert born c1867 and Annie 1868.  Hope this isn't a red herring :) xxx

I know where she died. It was in Belfast under Agnes Shearer, and that is the name on her son's birth certificate.  I lived in Belfast at that time and brought her from Scotland to me to look after her. She died 15/2/82.  But all that is no use to me.  She said she never  married, her son's father being the love of her life. We were able to contact the father and he knew her as Shearer as well.  I found an Agnes Shearer in 1901 Scottish Census and the name of her sisters were on it too. But it has her born 1895. In it the birthplace was stirling, then in1911 there was a move to Lanchashire.  On 1901 census there were other children and more born when they moved to England. We including her son thought there was just three sisters.
We were unable to find the marriage certificates of her two sisters maybe they were married in England. You can see why I appreciate help.

Thank you lizdb.  I have looked up the sisters and tried to find out more about them. Agnes is an enigma, so I thought i could get some info on the family thro' them. I have just posted a birth certificate I ordered which I thought was her but I'm not so sure now.  We know she was Shearer when she was in Wales during the war where my husband was born but to get further back I'm trying to find which surname she used. Appreciate your help. Blantyre is in Scotland.  :) xxx

Sorry for confusing you. I mentioned the granny who was Agnes's mother because even my husband was too young to get her name, I don't think he had much contact with the family. I was trying to emphasise  how little we know.
The birth certificate says Agnes Russell was born on 12/12/02. Address 53 Cochrane St. Bathgate.
Agnes herself told me that her father's name was Russell, but she called herself Shearer. This birth certificate says the father's name is Alexander Russell and mother's Margaret Myres Married 16 November 1883.  It means they were married 19 years when Agnes was born.  Agnes told me her father used to go away and then comeback and another child would be born. She only ever mentioned Lizzie and Mary.
Thanks for pointing out the confusion I saw it when I read it again and also for taking an interest. :) xxx

I have a birth certificate I ordered thinking it was her, if It's not infringing any copyright I would be happy to put it on the site. :) xxx
