Thanks a million.  Yes I would say pretty certain they are our Rings my ggg grandfather Patrick Ring born 1812 had brothers I think his Uncle was John and born some time in 1700s.  Have some work to do on those two lines.  Guessing these are relatives somewhere along the line.  Definitely worth contacting PP and making a trip out there.

Thank you.  Visited little church and graveyard in Danesfort a short while ago with my mother.  I have indeed checked the Census records have been at this for some time.  Mother side are all based in Dublin but knew there was some connection with Kilkenny but did not no where.  Finally traced that with the help of Frank Kavanagh and traced back to my great, great, great grandfather Patrick Ring from that area born in 1812.  He was a tenant farmer of the Shea's but suffered badly when the original owner passed and his brother took over.  This was Richard Shee or Shea if I remember correctly and he inflicted as much harm as possible on my ancestor and his young family including eviction.  However, he survived 1843 and in 1853 they had Patrick Ring my Great great grandfather and all I knew what he left Kilkenny and moved to Dublin with a reference from the PP in Danesfort.
Could not find any headstone in that small church and the one in Bennetsbridge looked to new.  Any help you can give would really be appreciated.  You can email me if you wish especially if you know of surviving relatives.  The Rings travelled far and wide and have traced them to America, Australia in particular and others parts of the world.  Many thanks again.

Hi all, I have recently discovered the Patrick Ring (DMP) who left Kilkenny and went to Dublin father was also a Patrick Ring born in 1812 in Bennetsbridge along with some interesting reading on how he was treated in 1843 by his landlord Richard Shee.  There is a Jackaline Ring who posted a message that I suspect is a sibling of Patrick.  Have no idea where she lives now and cannot reply to message posted in 2005 just posting this up in the hope that perhaps she is still living.  Her message relates to Patrick Ring 1840 to 1850.  Have gone back a little further into the Rings 1700s but still researching this part.

Patrick Ring & Bridget Ryan's children were Thomas(1790), John (1793) & Mary (1796), baptized Diocese of Ossary, Jerpoint. Seeking information on their siblings & descendents - specifically any connections to John, William and Patrick Ring, property owners (farmers) in Ballyredding North and Bennettsbridge in 1848.

Hi Catherine, speaking to mother today about Elizabeth Griffith and she says very little is known about her apart from she was from Meath and a different town to Julianstown but I trust your research which I have also followed this evening.  Do you know if Patrick's father in Danesfort had any other siblings as Castlecomer where I live has a number of Ring families and I have a funny feeling that we are all somehow connected.  A friend who carries out work for all of them asked them years back and they said no, but somehow I think the Kilkenny location and similarity of naming children is too much of a coincidence.  This is all new to me but between working, family and completing a degree it all got sidelined.  Have a cousin in Dublin whose is researching along with a couple of others too according to mother.  Will try and put together what I have and let you have that.  One question the William Griffith who passed in 2004, is he the son of Elizabeth's brother William, or her brother, if the latter what year was he born?

Hi Catherine, do have a family tree but is is on paper.  The information gleaned here has filled in many gaps and searching the census there is plenty to add in.  Will have a look at it over christmas as my other is staying here with me.  I was born in Birmingham, England but now live in Castlecomer.  My mother has photographs back in Dublin of Elizabeth and her three brothers also.
Where are you living?

Be in touch.

Regards, Nuala

Catherine, My great great grandfather was Patrick Ring born in Kilkenny, joined DMP and moved to Dublin and lived in 4 Sackville Gardens.  His children were Christopher, Patrick, Liam, Leo, Joseph and Elizabeth Mary.  His son Patrick moved to Bray after marriage and returned to 6 Sackville Gardens at some stage.  His son Christopher lived at 5 Sackville Gardens.  His son Joseph lived at 24 Clonmore Terrace, Ballybough, Dublin.  His son Liam lived on the Seafield Road in Clontarf.  Think this is the same Patrick you are referring to but what is your connection?  Patrick Junior was my grandfather and my mother is Elizabeth Ring.
