Hertfordshire Lookup Requests / Workhouse imates
« on: Sunday 18 June 23 08:43 BST (UK)  »
 Hi Everyone,
I am looking into the past ancestry of my family history
I have found in the National Archive Newspapers, an article about James Watts of Little Hadham  Hertfordshire 1843
he was up for warrant, charged by the overseers with deserting his children in the workhouse. chargeable to the parish. he was told he could either, Jion his children in the workhouse or go to jail, he chose to Jail.
I am trying to link him to my family tree, I know my 4x Great grandfather Henry Watts came from Little Hadham then the family moved to Rickmansworth.  I am sure this James is part of the family.
Is there any way I can find information about children in Workhouse around Rickmansworth I have looked on Ancestry, but I am not sure where to look. any help would be apricated

  Hi
I have not been able to find any record of my Father Frank Watts  on any of the censuses on Ancestry,
I have found a 1939 census with my grandparents Bernard and Ethel Watts along with my auntie Jean who was aged 11 at the time of the census, but no record of my father, he was born in 1924, he would have been about 15 in 1939.
The 1939 census is the only record I can find of the family, how often were the census's done,?  thank you for your Time

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / find records of ancestors homes in Sancton
« on: Friday 05 May 23 06:18 BST (UK)  »

I have been doing my family history and would like to find out about the land and houses were

     the  family lived

I know my grandparents Bernard & Ethel Watts had a market garden in Low street Sancton East
Yorkshire, the house was known firstly as ATLAS HOUSE, then as RED HOUSE.
They also had A dairy at  CHAPEL FARM on Kings Street Sancton.
another property they had was known as GOLDIE HILL also in Sancton.

I would like to know a little about the background of these properties, and about the people that previously owned them, Just to be able to add to the family history,  from what I have been told about Chapel Farm, the man that used to live there by himself fell down the servant's stairs and died.   we lived there when I was a child before moving to Australia.  any information or help  anyone could give me would be great, thank you for your time
