Thank you and I must apologise!

I'm new to this and I didn't know about the transcript service. I have palced an order.

I will wait until I get the transcript back before I continue.

Regards

Hi JM

To answer your question Robert Vaughan b:1852 Sydney - d:1933 Mortdale is the only record that I have been able to find. I don't know if he has any siblings and by default if he is the youngest child.

He married twice Jane Purcell in 1876 and May Hannah Elizabeth Everson in 1883. I have all of the records for both marriages and the children.

It's his parents that are the roadblock. His baptism register says they are Robert and Margaret Lynch. I have not been able to find anything for a marriage or birth and death records of either Robert or Margaret.

If I can firm up those details I might be able to then work out what the relationship with Henry Edward Vaughan and Henry John Vaughan is.

Oh, I'm reluctant to spend the $35 that NSW ask for if there is no more information on the register than I already have.

The other comment about Henry Neville Livingstone Vaughan, yes Robert and May H. E. Everson are his parents.

Cheers

Hi everyone. this will be a bit long winded.

Robert Vaughan b:1852 Sydney - d:1933 Mortdale, Sydney. Robert is my 2xgreat grandfather and that is confirmed. His baptism states that his father was also Robert and mother was Margaret Lynch. Thats where is goes dead on his parents. I have his records sorted 2 marriages, kids etc.
My great grandfather was Henry Neville Livingstone Vaughan b:1884 d:1972.

Now there is some confusion amongst the family as they also have a Henry Edward Vaughan b: 1842 Sydney d: 1901 Katoomba in the mix.

His father was Henry John b: 1791 Isleworth, England d: 1871 Sydney. He was a convict and eventually a very successful business man, as was Henry Edward. Realestate.

The family has heaps of photos and stuff of Henry Edward and they believe that he our 2x great grandfather. All my research and some personal notes from my grandmother point to Robert Vaughan.

One more thing Henry John is believed to have left a wife behind in England with possibly for children. A wild guess but could one of them be Robert?

How can I go about finding out the connection?

Thanks heaps

Isle of Man / The Howe IOM

Hi,

The area or place called 'The Howe' is referred to on a number of the official records that I have found. It also registers on google maps, yet when I search for it nothing comes up.

Does it exist or is it simply a family name used in reference to where the family lived?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

Chucky

Australia / 6 Newman Street Mortdale

Hi,

Is there any chance that someone out there can tell me how or where I might be able to get a photo or any info really on 6 Newman Street. Now obviously I don't mean a photo of the current residence at the address, that would just be creepy.

Three generations of the Vaughan family lived at the address from around 1910 to 1950. I have found a few news paper articles and heaps of electoral rolls and census forms. My mum has found memories of the house but unfortunately no photos have survived.

I have asked the local museum but they couldn't really help.

I know its a bit of a long shot but you never know.

Cheers, Chucky

Good afternoon

Well that just goes to show I have no idea what I'm doing. He's me thinking I'm posting on a board in Ireland and you two pop up. :)

To quote a very old a sexiest remark "anyone would think I was a blonde" but no just an oldish, going grey guy. :)

Thanks Neale1961, yes I have the passenger lists, probably the best ones I have found for info. I was hoping to find birth or baptism records back in Ireland.

Hi folks

I'm trying to find any record of the following ancestors who left for Australia in the mid 1850's.

I have immigrant passenger lists on the David McIver but was hoping to find records of births etc before they left.

Names are :
James Smith/Smyth born about 1831 Newtonhamilton, Armagh, died 1879 Sydney, Australia
Father John & mother Susannah

Sarah Ann Adamson born about 1831 Tullylish, Northern Ireland?, died 1907 Sydney, Australia
Father Thomas & mother Ann Jane McDoughall.

Thank you
