Lil here again. I have had contact with another Morrison researcher  here in Canada. She is researching a James Morrison in Ontario but knows little else. We do match DNA so perhaps it is on the Morrison line

I suspect we must have a connection here somewhere. My DNA is on Ancestry, ftDNA  and gedmatch.  I will happily supply my kit # if you are interested and have DNA any of those places.

1  am likely not of this family but many years ago a gentleman gave me a pedigree chart of a Thomas Graham m to a Bessie Coulter of Tempo. I would be happy to share  a jpeg of the chart with anyone who is interested. I am searching for Coulters in the Maguires Bridge area and since we were sort of "close" and  both had unknown Coulters, I received this info. The chart is for the Grahams. I believe the man who gave it to me is deceased.  Email me at lhess at shaw dot ca

I seem to have forgotten to  list the most important fact. I don't know for sure what religion my Morrison's were BEFORE they emigrated to Canada but they joined the  Methodists in Canada - belonging to both Primitive and Wesleyan Churches.  I know there wasn't a Methodist Chapel near them, and the first Chapel in Collooney was not established until the 1860's AFTER they left Ireland in 1856. I can see Morrison is not a common name in Sligo. There must be connections somewhere.  However, and this is pure speculation - my Morrisons may have been RC. For some strange reason in a family that seems to have all its roots well known and frequently discussed, absolutely nothing is known about the parents or potential siblings of my Robert. We wonder if perhaps his marriage to a protestant girl and joining the Methodist church might have sparked a division. My grandpa often talked about the family of MAry Coulter, wife of Robert, and his mother, but he never spoke about his Dad's family - ever. I was too young to notice. What I would give for a few more moments with him!

Hi,
I would love to believe that all these folk, and all of us were/are connected. Since this isn't so far back, perhaps we can all connect through DNA. If we connect there, it makes the search for paper proof more eminent. There are probably records we can search but, currently it must be done in Ireland and it is page by page searching.  Both my sister and I have tested at Family Tree DNA. I am happy to give you access to my Henderson database on Ancestry. None of it is connected just names right now. Since this is your first message I cant send you my email online here at rootschat, with my email. Make a couple more postings and we can communicate privately.

There seems to be a lot of duplicate names etc but it doesn't look like this is my family. Perhaps I am of the "cousins" line. Mine definitely came 1856. But there are not a lot of Morrisons in Sligo so perhaps....   Have you ever done DNA? you can email me at lhess at shaw dot ca (I am from Saskatchewan coincidentally).
