Cheshire / Where did John Reeves come from?? **My 6th Grandfather**
« on: Monday 18 January 21 19:48 GMT (UK)  »
Good evening,

I am wondering if anyone could help me.  I am looking to locate John Reeves baptism and parentage He is my 6th grandfather.

John Reeves married Martha Stephens on the 26th September 1790 in Malpas, Cheshire.  It says both of this parish, John - Oldcastle and Martha Stephens Cuddington. I have located Marthas baptism from her burial record.  She was born in 1756

I am assume John will be born the same decade similar year.  I have been hunting a baptism for John within this time scale.

A baptism I have located for a John Reeves baptised 1757 Middlewich which is 24 miles in current times.  I have no marriage for this John Reeves, but have located a John Reeves buried in Davenham from Middlewich no age but classed as a youngster in 1780 could this be the same person?  I dont think this could be my ancestor

Martha passed away in 1830 Malpas aged 74 years of age husband John Reeves.  I can't locate a death for John

They had 3 children
Richard Reeves born 1791 Baptised St Oswald, Malpas - my ancestor - married Mary Maddocks 30th December 1812 Malpas Cheshire

Mary Reeves born 1795 passes away 1826
William Reeves born 1798 - passes away 1819

Not sure if any other children they lived in Isycod of Malpas

Any help will be truly appreciated in this quest
Thanks in advance
Fiona

Cornwall Lookup Requests / Marriage look up Crowan - HILL/TREVARTHEN?
« on: Monday 23 September 19 10:31 BST (UK)  »
Good morning,

Would any kind person be able to confirm the maiden name of a marriage for me.

I have a James Hill marrying an Avis these are my 8th grt grandparents.  Unfortunately it does not show Avis maiden name

The marriage date is 14th January 1704 in Crowan, Cornwall

Due to Avis being an unusual name I have found that an Avis Trevarthen was baptised to a George Trevarthen in 1684 Crowan, which would work out OK as she would be 20 when she married James in 1704

I also went a little further to see if I could see a marriage for George Trevarthen I cant find it now but I thought I had and it and in my head he married an Avis.  But now I cannot locate it

Any help with this marriage would also be fantastic

Thank you in advance to any person who is willing to help

Hi Kevin

Can you tell me more about your line of potters. Thomas Potter jnr is buried with his mother Mary. But Thomas snr is also buried at Shekve. But descends from Hyssington

My mum, uncle and nan with her siblings attended the bog school which is now the visitor centre. My grt grandmother was the caretaker there when it was a school. The building which was the mine managers house opposite the outer wall of the club house is were it was situated. My grandads garden still grows strong

Did you also visit the devils chair for the views?

In your first post, you have variations of the name so I thought you had him on various records. :-\
He could have died in infancy.

Thank you yes his younger brother did at 9. I just can't locate a death for him

So tried to locate different spellings of his name in case it was mis spelt

Your help is appreciated
