Just looking for Elizabeth Thorley's ancestor's or any more info on her.
I know it states she was born in Ashton under Lyne in 1794 on census records, but I've found some other records which may be of interest, although I may be way off.
As mentioned earlier in the thread, there is a John Gribbin who was tried for crimes in 1830 and one of his partners in crime was a Levi Thorley.
I've found records for him, with his father, a Lot Thorley and mother Elizabeth, baptised in Eccles. in 1801.
Elizabeth Thorley married William Oates in 1831 in Eccles.
I know Ashton Under Lyne is the other side of Manchester, but what are the chances of Levi being a relative of Elizabeth?

Hi Garstonite,

I think he was born in Tilstock.
And the date of his baptism ties in with his age at death.

I have a family tree with ancestry and there are others on there too.

But I'm never too sure if they're right.

Do you think they could be?

I have a copy of a death certificate for my 5 x Great Grandfather Daniel Sumner.
He died October 18th, 1837.
He was a pump maker aged 63.
Cause if death is 'accident'
Informant was Daniel Sumner. Whitchurch
Registered 7th December.

I'd love to find out more about his death, so how would I go about finding info in the local newspapers at the time?

And obviously to ensure its the correct person.

Thanks

Thanks Middlesbrough,

I have those records too, I'm just trying to find out if the Richard Hunt born in St. Helena could be the one I have, born in Nenagh!!!

I'm clutching at straws, I know, but something about Richard Hunt born in Nenagh doesn't sit right with me. It happened with another ancestor who changed his name after deserting the Marines in 1907 (it took me years to find that out and discover more about him).
I don't have any records for Nenagh Richard before he joined the army in 1854 and I can't find any records for St. Helena Richard after the 1851 census!! So I just need to find proof they're not the same one, to put my mind at rest...

I've come across a Richard Hunt born in St. Helena, Ireland (Obviously misinterpreted as island)

The 1851 census clearly says "Island of St Helena".

Yeah, sorry again.
It was the St. Helena, Ireland on the ancestry translation

Yeah,  I've seen the army records for Richard born 1834 in Nenagh. Plus other records for him, including his marriage in 1868 and death in 1882, in Woolwich. But nothing before he joined the army in 1854. So I'm just trying to eliminate all other possibilities.

Sorry, I should've stated, that the census results for Mary, were later on.
She married an Edward Murphy, from Cork, who was a stonemason.

Hi,

I've been unsuccessfully researching Richard Hunt born in Nenagh, Ireland in 1834.

I've come across a Richard Hunt born in St. Helena, Ireland (Obviously misinterpreted as island).
He is living in Bristol in the 1841 and 1851 census with parents John and Catherine Hunt.
John is a police sergeant.
Richard also has an older sister Mary, born in Madeira, Cork, (but again, this must've been a misinterpretation), living with them.

I can't find any records for him after 1851, so would it be possible for somebody to help me discover anymore information for him please?

Thanks in advance

Richard
