Sorry for my typo I meant St Cleer . I am doing these searches from Australia and find the systems some what different.
Perhaps I need to review the original.   How does one go about this from outside England.
Love the assistance that this group supplies. Certainly thank you for your input and expertise.
I took Higher Derrite as the place of birth of John and not Margaret the mother.

Cornwall / Looking for a place called Higher Derrite

I have a great grand father one John Bennett born in Higher Derrite,  St.  Creed in 1825. This is according to christening details on OPC.
His father was a tinner.   I have done a search for this place but had no luck.
The closest match might be Darite but not really populated until about 1840.  Prior to this it was known as Railway Terrace.
Does anyone have knowledge of such a place as Higher Derrite or Derrite that may have existed around 1825?
Thank you.

Cornwall Lookup Requests / Re: Bennetts - Lookup Request Cornwall

Many thanks for the replies.  This seems to open up a host of possibilities.
I further have found on familysearch.org a death for a William Bennetts, death 2nd October 1853.
St Cleer Cornwall.
I wonder if I contacted OPC St Cleer and asked for a check of the original record this might give greater detail.  Is this acceptable to ask and do original records show moor.

Also what search engine is best for the Cornish OPC database as my search via LDS does not give information for occupations or witnesses for the marriage of William Bennett and Margaret HendyI think this may be the couple I am after as on a close look at John's marriage certificate the mothers name could well be Margarett Hendy.
Just need to find a possible death for net also.  If age dissimilar tonne as William this may have been the impetus for John to pack up and come to Australia.  It's possible he had no other family.

Cornwall Lookup Requests / Bennetts - Lookup Request Cornwall

My great grandfather "John Edmund Bennetts" born in 1826 left Plymouth on May 2 1859 on the vessel "Swiftsure" This was at the age of 34. He therefore lived and possibly worked for a number of years before immigrating.
John traveled to Australia alone and at his own expense. That is to say it was not an assisted passage.
On his marriage certificate here in Australia he indicated his place of birth as Cornwall and his father "William Bennetts" and his mother "Margerita (surname indecipherable but looks something like) Casidy or Eady"  He gave his occupation as miner.

I have searched online and been unable to find any births deaths or marriages for his parents or for John himself.
There are a number of John Bennetts aged 15 on the 1841 census but none with recognisable parents.
I have no anecdotal information from John to his family etc. As he died in the Australian goldfields at the age of 45 in 1871 his son my grandfather being only 3 years of age at the time.

I would be very grateful for any input at all.
