The Common Room / Way to Approximate What Ancestor Looks Like?
« on: Saturday 15 July 23 19:12 BST (UK)  »
Hello everyone.  I have a photo of a GG-grandmother and one of her sons.  Also a photo of a GGG-grandmother in the same line.

Is there a website or app where photos can be loaded and would be able to approximate what other siblings of the same son (mentioned above) might look like?  One of those siblings is my GG-grandfather and it would be fascinating to get at least some general idea of what he might've looked like.  This would be in the early 1800s.

Thanks!

Did some checking, and it appears Marcel Van De Cnocke is deceased (2016).  Still, his information offers great information.  Thank you garstonite!

garstonite:  Yes, I've seen the spelling that way.  Very possible connection.  He may be able to point me in the right direction.  Thank you so much!

Thank you davecapps.  An excellent start.  I'll start digging and see if I can trace some ancestors with these resources.

Appreciate your help.

I'm wondering how to find cemeteries where the ones in Germany are buried.

Also curious to know if there possibly were still people with the Knoke/Knocke last names living in those areas after 1900 or so.

Hello.  As I've not traveled to Germany and surrounding areas, I must ask for forgiveness ahead of time about spelling and ignorance about how locations are properly referred or identified.

My mother's side is of the Knoke/Knocke family line.  I would like to find death/burial information and locations, if available, for those who lived and died in Germany.  If someone will direct me where to begin, that would be great.  Some names, dates, and locations below.  Thank you.

Valentin Knocke (1548-1611): Rosdorf-Gottingen-Hannover, Germany (Preussen)
Claus Knocke (1580/1585-?): Rosdorf-Gottingen-Hannover, Germany (Preussen)
Melchisedech Knocke (1617-?): Rosdorf-Gottingen-Hannover, Germany (Preussen)
Christian Knocke (1665-1746): Mengerhausen-Gottingen-Hannover, Germany (Preussen)
Johann Christian Knocke (1697-1738): Lemshausen-Rosdorf-Gott, Hannover, Germany Preussen
Jobst Henrich Knocke (1736-1805): Lemshausen-Rosdorf-Gött, Hannover, Germany Preussen
Johann Christoph Knocke (1776-1846): Lemshausen-Rosdorf-Gött, Hannover, Germany Preussen
Heinrich Christian Friedrich Knoke (1819-1891): Lemshausen, Hannover, Preussen (buried in Iowa, USA)
John Knoke (1856-1926): Illinois, USA; maybe Streator, Livingston County, Illinois
Jesse Knoke (1892-1973): Noble Township, Cass County, Lyman, Iowa, USA

Thank you for the information.  I wondered about the Quaker link and as that might be a good direction to go.  But never thought about family land as the place where they might be buried.  And thank you also for the meeting notes.  Interesting!

United States of America / Thomas Gibson (1723-1814) and Hannah Ring Gibson (1733-1810)
« on: Saturday 26 October 19 15:29 BST (UK)  »
Believe Thomas Gibson (1723-1814) and Hannah Ring Gibson (1733-1810) are grandparents.  Unable to locate where they are buried, however.  Death information for each says Connellsville, Fayette, Pennsylvania.  But nothing comes up as far as a cemetery.  Any suggestions are appreciated.  Thanks.
