Family History Beginners Board / Seibert?
« on: Monday 02 June 14 21:32 BST (UK)  »
Hello!   ;D I haven't been online for a while and once again have I got a question for you guys! My Grand - Mas surname was Cybert, I know it's a version of Sybert which is supposed to be spelt Seibert. Seibert well obviously is a Germanic surname, but would Cybert still be classified as Germanic? It's the same surname spelt differently! It's like Johnson and Jonson, different spelling same meaning!  8) right, I hope I hear soon! Peace

Also a thing to point out is that I am Lubuszian because I was born in Gorzow, Western Poland and before I end the thread I have to say I thought I had Scottish ancestors because I look really really Germanic but again what can I say? My town used to be East Brandenburg in Germany until 1945!

Found out my Ancestors were Russian and so is my Surname. I am a little Belarusian after my Grand father and when he was born it used to be part of Russia in 1939 so yeah!

Yes, well kind of because I seen someone here before me called Bernat. My surname is Bernatowicz so let's say my surname is Son of Bernat whilst his comes from the Personal name. ;)

The Common Room / Re: Meaning of a Street name .
« on: Thursday 20 February 14 14:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hi! Street names are named after people which is correct. But before you make the mistake of contacting the Council how about you ask the local people. Maybe the elderly will know who Craig was? ;D Remember streets are named after popular and/or famous people, Eg: Victoria Avenue, we all know who Queen Vic was right?
