Great suggestion! Wow, much better than my throwing a dart at the map!

I have information on Michael Denniston's wife, but nothing on Michael. I do not know his parents names, nor where he was born. I secured the date of the marriage from the records at St. Mary's in Edgeworthstown, but no civil record was found when I requested it.

I appreciate the time you took to look things up and again apologize for sending you thrice around Robin Hood's barn. I'm delving back into this research after being away for several years and seem to have lost my manners during my absence.

I'm thinking I'll just start taking the counties surrounding Longford one at a time and search for a lead on Michael Denniston.

I apologize for not being more detailed. Guess y'all aren't mind readers! I know about my ggrandfather's life from the point he married my ggrandmother, Mary Burke. I have come across zilch before that. They farmed on Mary's grandfather, Bartholomew Burke's, land so Lisnanagh is not necessarily Michael Denniston's home, nor perhaps even County Longford. Was wondering if perhaps the Dennistons in Longford are related to Dennistons in another county where I can continue my search? Any suggestions on where to look would be appreciated!

Longford / Denniston/Burke

Seeking information on my mystery relative, Michael Denniston. Born about 1845, died 1905. Cannot find any record of him other than his death certificate. When in Ireland I met several Dennistons in Longford who KNEW there wasn't a Michael in their tree. How? It seems a lawyer from Scotland came to Longford 70+ years ago with a bequest for a Michael Denniston of County Longford or his heirs. Every family member when through every piece of paper to no avail! So perhaps there is a branch of Dennistons related to the folks in Longford but from another county? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Michael married Mary Burke (1854-1934) and lived in Lisnanagh. Though most family records are housed at St. Mary's in Edgeworthstown, information on the baptism for their first child was housed at St. Mary's in Enybegs. Father Early thought this was due to a redrawing of parish lines, but who knows.
