Thank you Rosie...

I suspect:
Margaret - 1864
Maria - 1866
Johanna - 1867 (I do know that she was born in May...according to my mother)
Alice - 1869

Here's my problem - the one i am related to (JOHANNA) does not seem to exist - unless her name at birth was Maria.

Also, according to the legend - this leaves 13 other (girl) births, unaccounted for.  frustrating to be this close!

I can only say definitively that the parents names, as recorded on her marriage cert - were Michael Ryan and Alice McDermott.  The other part of that was that mom mother always said she had a McDermott in the family - and it only surfaced when we found that marriage cert.

Thank you so much for your help with this!

Tipperary / Requesting Look-up assistance

My great grandmother JOHANNA RYAN was born in Ireland about 1867 in either Tipperary or Kilkenny.  (we believe the former)  She and her sister MARGARET RYAN came the the US around 1888.  I found a NYC marriage certificate for Johanna...indicating her Dad's name was MICHAEL RYAN and her Mom's name was ALICE MCDERMOTT.  This sounds like it makes sense from stories i've heard over the years.  The BIG story was that these two were 2 of 17 RYAN girls!  I cannot find anything that corroborates that part of it.  The only thing I found was the attached. (mom - Ally McDermott and dad Michael Ryan)  I see Margaret born to them - but not Johanna!

Is there another way to see if Michael Ryan and Alice McDermott had additional children?  Even if they had Johanna and Margaret - i'd feel better about this find!

Help please - and thank you in advance

Hi - well, the document says that she died in April 1890 and that she was 67 years old.  So, by that, I am saying 1823ish.

She married John Donlon and they had two children that I know of Margaret (b. NY 1853) and Michael (my g. grandfather) b. NY 1854

So that makes her 20 and 21 for the births of the children...certainly possible.  John (husband) was born in Ireland somewhere abt 1820

Hi - thank you for taking the time to respond!  Just a quick clarity question...the space that says "cannot ascertain" next to Mary's Mother's name...would that not be her maiden name?  (meaning mary's mother?)  I'm trying to find Mary's maiden name - with SHOULD be her Dad's last name (which I've tried KIELRAN without success).  It is possible i have it wrong and I'm looking in the wrong spot  :(

Hi!

Any help would be appreciated.  Have tried KIELRAN and several other variations - to no avail.  Dad's first name seems clear - JAMES

Thanks in advance.  I just cannot seem to make this jump into Ireland...same wall...both mom/dad's side.
