Hi John,

Thanks very much for your reply.  I remember I met you at your fathers funeral, a few years ago.  If I get a chance I’ll drop you a few lines.

All the best

Hi Mabel

Thank you for your reply

John Thomas Dier was my gran's brother.  You say "Medical registers have him qualifying in Scotland".  Would you be able to tell me how to acces those medical registers?

Regards

Robert

Hi Ian

John Thomas Dier was my granny's brother.  He was oldest in the family.   He had two sisters and three brothers.

John Thomas was born on June 4, 1891, in Garruan Upper, Killann Co. Wexford.  He qualified as a doctor at the College of Surgeons, Dublin and later at Edinburgh University.  He married Julia McPherson from Edinburgh and settled in Warrington.  They had two sons, Robert and Richard

Brother             Richard Henry, 1892 - 1916, killed in the Somme
Brother             Robert Abraham, 1896 - 1976
Brother             Samuel, born Clonroche, 1898 - 1978
Sister               Olivia, 1901- 2011
Sister               Florence,  1903

Hope this is of help to you
