Well I never knew anyone could have had more than one vote!

Thank you for that Andy J2022.

The Common Room / Electoral Register 1929 UK

My Grandfather seems to have been recorded twice in the 1929 Electoral Register, both at his home address and what appears to be a business address ... anyone any idea why this would be please?

On the 1939 Register, the part page that is visible on the right hand side can offer useful snippets of information about your relative but I find the coding there very confusing!

In this case against my relative's name and written in red (is this relevant?) is the letter C, enclosed in a square, and the number 76, also enclosed in a square. There is then a horizontal line from them leading off to the right across the page. Anyone any idea what this might mean?

Thank you.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: Help deciphering occupation
« on: Tuesday 28 June 22 14:56 BST (UK)  »
Oh wow, thank you Bookbox. I had 'Googled' walkmiller but hadn't found anything! Another occupation to add to unusual ones I have found ... my favourite of all being "Town Scavenger" which, despite the image it evokes, was a street cleaner  :)

Thank you also Treetotal & Milliepede for the Blacksmith suggestions but I think Walkmiller was right all along.

Can anyone help with what this occupation might be on an ancestor's baptism record ... looks something like Walkmiller to me?

Many thanks.

Thank you again everyone, the original date is correct and I think that arthurk may have a good reason for the amendment.

As always the rootschat community have come up trumps  ;)

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Annotation on 1939 Register

Could anyone tell me what the annotation means above the middle entry for James Nevitt on this extract from the 1939 Register please. Is it a correction of his d.o.b.? But what does the NUO mean? I know you wonderful people will help. Thanks in advance.
