Herefordshire / Re: ROGERS - Weston u P, Pencoed, Llandinabo

I too am related to the Rogers of Weston-Under-Penyard, Herefordshire. My Grandfather was Thomas Charles Rogers Grandson of Enoch Rogers and Charlotte Cox. I have probably been in touch with some of you before but would be particularly interested in learning about the family who emigrated to the USA

I took out a subscription to the (England and Wales) 1911 Census during the holidays, and between a bout of illness and being stuck in the snow, I have come back to this lot and have done a fair bit of filling in of the "facts" column in Family Tree Maker.  It has also allowed me to do some back tracking as well.

So while I can't help with family emigrated to the USA (I'm as interested as you in hearing more), I'm more than happy if anybody wants any of this "filled-in" information: what people's jobs were, where they lived, etc.

Hiya Ttony,

There were several families named Comer living in Co. Mayo in 1856-7 when Griffiths Valuation took place in the County. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths.php This information on its own may not be much help but should get you started.

All the Best,

Christopher

Many thanks, Christopher.

My new problem (not that I'm complaining) is trying to bridge the gap between the two children born in the 1820s and putative relations still there in the 1850s.  There is a heck of a lot of them in Bekan, however, and maybe that's where I should start.

If anybody else wants to help, please don't think I'll be bothered!

Martin Comer, son of a butcher Patrick, born Co Mayo 1821, married in Manchester 10 October 1847.  Martin had a brother John, born 1824 and who married in Manchester in June 1850.  There may have been another younger brother, Michael.

There may have been no end of brothers and sisters, but I don't know anything about them!  Does any of this ring any bells?

David Peregrine, born Meline c1793, married Margaret Price, born Meline c1793, in Cardiganshire in 1812.

Is this familiar to anybody?

Sharyn/Shazzam

what can I say other than Coo!

(I'd love Zipper to be the name of a chapel.)

Many many thanks for this.  I need to read, mark and inwardly digest, I think, and then see how to take all this forward (and backward).

Without realising this, you are going to make some old people very happy!  Good deed for the day done!

Very best wishes

Hi,

I had a look on the 1851 census for any Peregrines born or living in Aberaeron and found none.  Couldn't find Evan & Margaret anywhere . . . nor father David.
Sorry ???

Sharyn

Thanks for trying.  They had probably left Cardiganshire: they are in the Rhondda in 1881.  However, Evan the younger is listed as born 1850 in Aberayron.

Oh well: anybody any ideas for a next step?

Evan Peregrine b 1813 married Margaret Price b 1812.  Evan was likely the son of David Peregrine b abt 1787.  Evan and Margaret's children were: John, David, Margaret, Mary, Morgan and Evan.

Any bells ringing?

I have a few possibles:

John Rogers married Margaret and their children, all born in Llandinabo were:

Mary b. 1761
Margaret b.1763
William b. 1766
Thomas b. 1768
Richard b. 1772
John b. 1777

Thomas, who is my 4xG Grandfather died in Weston under Penyard in 1839.  Hemarried Jane Gwillim in 1799.  Are these the Rogers you are looking for?

Best wishes

Tony
