Louisa Agnes Woods was born in Agra, India on 16 August 1845. At Allahabad, India on 11 November 1865 she married Frank Long, the son of William Long. He was born at Rawlpindi, India in 1853(?) and became agent for the Punjab Trading Company. In 1883, Frank was a Dispensing Chemist and Druggist in Muree, and also an Agent for Bourne & Shepherd in Muree and Rawlpindi : a family descendant describes him as a shipper and merchant. They lived at Brockhurst, Simla and all their children were schooled in England. (It is possible Louisa and Frank had returned to England by 1891 because in the 1891 census for Wallington, Mitcham, Surrey is a Louisa A Long, wife born in India. Aged 45). Their children included:-
Frank Thorby Long MRCS, LRCP who was born in Umballa, Bengal Presidency, India on 16 November 1866 and was baptised there on 19 December 1866: he died in 1902. He became a GP in the English Lake District but died fairly young. On 23 August 1894 at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Croydon, Frank married Elizabeth Gray Laidlaw who was known as Elsie: she was born in Candy, Ceylon (probably c.1859), and was the daughter of James Laidlaw of Ceylon. At the time of the 1891 census Frank was living in Wallington, Mitcham, Surrey and at the time of the 1901 census he was head of the household and living in the parish of Egton With Newland, Ulverston, Lancashire. Their children were:-
1 Frank Long, 2 Louisa Ellen Long, 3. Dorothy Long, 4 male Long.
I am a descendant of a sister of the above Louisa Agnes Woods
