World War One / World War One Record of Charles Leeson
« on: Friday 27 November 09 10:19 GMT (UK)  »
Hello All
I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me find the WW1 record of Charles James Leeson, from Northampton. I know that he married in Middlesborough in 1918, so perhaps he was based somewhere near there?!? I'm not 100% sure that he DID fight in the war, but I'd still like to find out definitely!
Thanks :D

Occupation Interests / leather dresser (journeyman)
« on: Saturday 07 November 09 10:56 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,
What was a leather dresser (journeyman)? It is listed exactly like that on my grandmother's birth certificate in 1918. Is it something to do with the war? As the man in question was in the Royal Army Service Corps in 1918; I know he was involved with the transporting of horses...so I would have assumed that he would have put something about being a soldier rather than a leather dresser?!?
Any help appreciated :)

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / HELP! - Marriage look-up please!
« on: Tuesday 03 November 09 13:43 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All
Am looking for the marriage of Hattie E Stock to William A Leeson, which I *believe* happened sometime in the late 1950s i.e. 55 onwards. I have an inkling it may have been 1957, and in Bedford, but no conclusive proof as yet! Please could someone with acces to marriage records look it up for me! I would be verrrrrrry grateful!!! :D :D :D

Just to avoid confusion...In WW1 it was The Army Service Corps....they did not become "Royal" until after the war ;)
whoops...thanks! :D
I find it sad so, especially so in the cases of the ones who are left forgotten. Such a waste of life!

Hey guys,
thanks very much for your replies :) makes for interesting reading!
i did find the records on ancestry, but didn't read he bit about the chorea - just googled it and apparently it can stem from rheumatic fever in childhood...which is coincidental, as his daughter had a severe heart condition resulting from rheumatic fever!
i am so desperate to see a picture of this guy...would love to put a face with the name and the story!
:D
