Hi Bridget,
I’ve found more information on my Sextons and Hogans since my original post in 2014. They both came from Mullagh near Milltown Malbay in County Clare. John Sexton’s parents were Frances Sexton and Susan Sexton.
There is a blog written by a DNA confirmed Sexton cousin
sextonofkilmurryibrickaneparish.blogspot
With lots ofSexton information.
Hope this helps
Jude

Thank you Sarah - yes John was Roman Catholic - there may have been a brother Daniel, also in Hobart , who was godparent to John's first born Francis, baptised in St Joseph's Catholic church Hobart Tasmania. Francis was born 3 months after they arrived inTasmania in 1884.

Clare / Sexton & Hogan, County Clare Ireland mid 1800's

Hello, I hope someone can help me with information on my maternal great grandparents who emigrated from Ireland to Australia ( Hobart Tasmania ) in 1884.

John Sexton born 1847 and Jane Hogan Born 1853.
John was from County Clare, not sure where Jane originated from, I think she may have changed her Christian name.

I have lots of information of them in Tasmania but can find no trace of them in Ireland.

I would love to find their birth information and their marriage details. On the ship from Plymouth Jane is listed as Jane Sexton.

Thanking You in anticipation !!!!!!

Jude
