Hoping some one can help, on Ancestry lots of trees have him married to Ann Hotham 1728 - 1784.
I have tried to find a record of the marriage in 1748 • Warter, Yorkshire, but can't find it. Also the trees say her father was William, I found a baptism stating her father was John. 26 Aug 1728 • Saint Mary Bishophill Senior, York, Yorkshire, England.

I was hoping some one might look at this with a fresh pair of eyes and be able to help me work this out.

Kind regards,

Jean

Thanks for the info, nanny Jan and barryd.

Barryd, Well I know she was buried at sea at her husbands request. I don't know what he had to do to make it happen but it did happen.

Kind regards,

jean :-)

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Kathleen Autherson - Died on a Cruise Ship.
« on: Tuesday 18 November 14 13:08 GMT (UK)  »
I am hoping someone can help locating death details for my Grandmother

Kathleen Autherson b: 1905 Pocklington, East Yorkshire.

Parents: Richard Autherson b; 1860 and Lydia Watson b: 1868

1st marriage to Gerard Robinson b: 1903 Newcastle upon Tyne, married in Sculcoates, Yorkshire East Riding 1928. They had 3 sons.

2nd marriage to Harry Tizick b: October 1908 in Hull, Yorkshire East Riding, married in Hull, Yorkshire East Riding 1939. They had 2 sons.

I think she died in July between 1968-1970 ? I know it happened on a cruise ship when it was anchored off the Rock of Gibraltar and permission was granted for a burial at sea. I know a memorial service was held in Grimsby after her husband came home. I was young but I have this nagging thought in my head that no women were there because her husband was Jewish, I could have this totally wrong but it's there in my head so I thought I would share.

I would be so happy if I could find out the details eg: the name of the ship, and the exact date she died and the burial date. Also anything about the memorial service.

Thanks, Jean

Well done Trish,

I had not done much since my last post on Thomas Winfield/Wingfield. But I can tell you that on Family search Thomas is called widowed when he marries Ann, so yes I would say that his 1st child is from an earlier marriage. As for the Winfield/ Mary Baumford/Bamford daughter ROSANNAH born 1809 she was born too early to be Samual Winfield's b: 1877 mother, Rosanna married William Mason in 1878.

I don't know if you have read my post on page 1 of this post were I give a break down of my research.

Thank you for your help and I will put it with my records to investigate further.

Regards,

Jean

The more I research Rosanna Winfield the more of an engima she becomes. Using info from previous posts on this thread the more perplexed I become.

Rosamund Winfield !861 Census, yes I found that but by the 1871 Census of the same family she is no longer listed! where did she go? Okay so I search and find children of Thomas Winfield b 1822 in Cotmanhay, Derbyshire. and his wife is Anne White b 1830 in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, in both. I can't find a Rosanna Winfield or Rosamond Winfield amongst them. where to from here i am not sure!

Thomas Winfield's occupation:  (Boatman), the 1861 census states he is an Ag. Labourer, the 1971 Census states he is a Miner
So what am I missing? I think I will leave this for now and focus on others fro a while. Any feed back would be welcomed  ;)

Thank you so much to everyone who has replied to my post.

Henery,

Samual Winfield and Annie Towle are the parents of my grandfather Albert George Winfield 1905 – 1968 (child 5 of 9). Thank you for letting me know about  Beatrice Annie Winfield b1907, I had her as Annie. I have Rosanna Winfield as being born in July 1859 in Basford, Nottinghamshire. is that correct? My research into her also resulted in 13 children. I suspect that William Mason was not the biological father of Samual Mason. My reasoning for this conclusion is that  William Mason, Beatrice Mason, Hannah Mason, were all baptised with the parents being William Mason and Rosanna Mason. I found no record of a baptisim for Samual Winfield/Mason. It would appear that your sister in law and I are related  :D I still need to update her profile with everything I have found. You are more than welcome to have a look at my tree it is set to public view.

Again thanks for your help.
