Tyrone / Birth address record
« on: Thursday 03 December 20 12:26 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for help please on Birth Certificate details. If a 1915 birth record gives the child's 'date and place of birth' as the parent's address in Belfast, does that mean the birth actually took place at that address. Could the birth actually have taken place at a different location in N. Ireland e.g. at the grandparent's address and simply been registered at the home address in Belfast?

Derry (Londonderry) / Aghanloo Cemetery?
« on: Thursday 27 October 16 10:07 BST (UK)  »
Hi, can anyone please advise on how best to find out in which cemetery Charles and Jane Bonner (nee Johnston) may be in, having lived in Aghanloo, Co. Londonderry? Charles (R.C.) was born around 1887, Jane (C.of I.) in 1885. They married in Fintona C. of I. Parish Church in 1908. On-line, Aghanloo Cemetery seems to be mainly military?

Dates of their passing not known though probably in the 1950's. I have been told that they are buried 'at the local church' in Aghanloo though I don't know which church or denomination?

Perthshire / Re: John Bonner
« on: Thursday 20 October 16 10:24 BST (UK)  »
As I now have birth and death certificates for John Bonar/Bonner and for Catherine Stewart Bonner (nee Sandeman) I thought that I would be able to find their Marriage Cert on Scotland's People, but no trace? Both died in Perthshire, John in 1952 in Crieff and Catherine in 1965 in Muthill. I do not know date or place of marriage but I would imagine it was in the Perthshire area. Any suggestions please?

Thank you but seen this one - the father is 'William' not James and the mother 'Isabella' not Lizzie or Eliza. This William (senior), could of course be a brother of James but don't know.

Thank you for corresponding. Yes still looking for the Bonar/Bonner boys and their parent's details.

I have the following records for the boys:

John Bonar -
Birth Cert. 28-08-1881 (Gallany for Urney) Parents: James Bonar / Lizzie Bonar (Smyth)
Baptismal Cert. 04-09-1881 Parish of Mourne Parents: James Bonar / Eliza Smyth
Married Catherine Stewart Sandeman in Muthill, Perthshire
Death Cert. - (now Bonner) in Perth, Scotland 07-03-1952 Parents stated  James Bonar/Eliza Smyth

Joseph Bonar -
No Birth Cert.?
Baptismal Cert. 10-11-1883 Parish of Mourne Parents: James Bonar / Lizzie Smith
Marriage Cert. 30-01-1913 in Omagh to Elizabeth Donaldson address: Soldier's Barracks, Omagh
Death Cert. 21-05-1957 in Omagh

Charles Bonar -
No Birth or Bapt. Cert.? (DOB believed 1887) Parish of Mourne have no record of Bapt.
Marriage Cert. 11-08-0908 (as Bonner) to Jennie Johnston in Fintona (Church of Ireland) Father listed as James Bonner

William Bonar -
Birth Cert. 30-07-1889 (Ballycolman for Urney) parents: James Bonar / Lizzie Smith
Baptismal Cert. (Bonnar) 03-08-1889 Parish of Mourne. Parents: James Bonar / Lizzie Smith
Died from Wounds in France on 04-11-1914 Buried in Baillieul, France. Military document states from Camus, Strabane. In a 'Soldiers Effects' document I have found re William, it lists his effects being distributed to the above three brothers, plus a further brother James and a 'Half-Brother', Patrick (Smith) neither of whom I have any info on.

John, Joseph, Charles & William all served in WW1 in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. I have their Service Numbers, etc. but the limited available records do not provide any further leads.

I cannot find where the parents were from and hence cannot find birth or marriage certs. for them. I believe they both died in 1890's (James around 1896 and Lizzie around 1894) hence the boys were split up whilst still young.

Sorry for so much info but really keen to get over this 'brick wall'.
Have visited Registry Office at Letterkenny who searched but no joy.
Have searched RootsIreland but no joy.

Yes, the records do cover the period that I am looking for - but not for Urney and yes, I have searched all of the available records on the NLI for Tyrone, Fermanagh, Donegal, Londonderry and parts of Leitrim and Monaghan - and still going! I have also searched gro@groireland.ie as well as GRONI.

Tyrone / Urney, Strabane Records

I have found the online NLI Records to be an excellent source of information for baptisms and marriages but unfortunately, they have no records for Urney, Strabane. I have searched GRONI, Ancestry, Family Search but as yet not found the information I seek for the era 1850 - 1890. Can anyone suggest any other possible on-line sources for RC marriages and baptisms for the Urney area please?
