Thanks oldohioathome - I thought that link said the Newsbank archive only went up to 1987 so that's good news.  Details of obit I'm looking for attached.  Thanks for the help!

US Completed Requests / The Oregonian Newspaper 2009 Obituary SOLVED
« on: Wednesday 03 June 20 17:02 BST (UK)  »
I'm trying to find out how I can access an obituary that was printed in The Oregonian newspaper on Jan 20th 2009. I found this link:

https://www.oregonlive.com/editors/2013/12/how_to_access_the_oregonians_a.html

It explains how to access older copies and that the archive from 1987 is available via OregonLive.com but I've tried searching on there every which way to no avail.

Any help locating the obits section of this edition of the newspaper gratefully received! Thanks.

Renfrewshire / Re: Wellpark Parish Church - Greenock
« on: Monday 05 June 17 18:52 BST (UK)  »
Thanks sugarbakers - great links.  I've been doing a bit more digging into this and the Minister for the marriage in 1900 was a Rev William Wilson.  I've found him listed in the 1899-1900 Greenock Post Office Directory as follows:

WELLPARK PARISH CHURCH-Regent Street.
Minister— Rev. William Wilson, 17 Finnart Street

So the "Well Park Parish Church" I'm looking for was on Regent Street it seems.  The problem is there seems to have been several churches named Well Park in close proximity.  There was Well Park MidKirk (it's not this one) as well as a Well Park West Church which apparently was on the corner of Regent Street and Roxburgh Street.  The one in the photos looks like it was on the corner of Regent Street and Lynedoch Street.  I guess the one William Wilson could have been the Minister of either of them since Regent St seems to be involved for both.  It all depends on what the one on the corner of Regent and Lynedoch was named I suppose.

Thanks for your help.

Renfrewshire / Wellpark Parish Church - Greenock

I'm trying to find photographs of Wellpark Parish Church that was on Lynedoch Street in Greenock. I think it was demolished in 2002:

I can see that Canmore have some but they're not viewable online.

Thanks for any help.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help with names on death record?
« on: Friday 31 March 17 18:59 BST (UK)  »
I'm struggling with some of this death record - in particular the maiden name of the mother.

I think it says John McLagan, farmer, deceased (I'm not 100% on farmer but looks most likely!)

Then Julia McLagan M.S. G???? (deceased). I'm not even sure on the G.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Barry - yes that's the one I found previously too but it's incorrect. The correct name is Janet Lawcock.

Ah well Edwards is wrong! I was right in the first place with La? - it's actually Lawcock. I tracked it down. Thanks for looking.
