the information you kindly sent on the death notice is greatly appreciated. Interesting that two daughters were buried with them much later. Perhaps they never married?

Cork / Re: Ann Bateman - born Cork 1810 - father Michael
« on: Sunday 01 January 17 12:08 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Liz

Michael Bateman was from Helvic and was on a register for having land in Ringanoah (spelling?) The Irish call it Ring. I have reason to believe that the family moved to northern ireland as Melicina, one of his third daughters married as a minor in northern Ireland.  It wouldn't make sense for her to leave the family home to teach and move so far away by herself. Her mother Anne died at her daughter Melicina and son in laws home in Swatragh which was the post office. Prior to this the father Michael Bateman died at his son in laws in Dublin while visiting i assume.

Im trying to establish family connections to other Batemans to get further up the tree.

Melicina is a name from the Hugenouts (spelling) in Cork. So it has been suggested that with marriages of the Bennet and Beville children which gave Anne Beville, Michael Bateman's wife, that their daughter Melicina Batemen was named after.

As far as i know, none of my family were transported  to Australia.

Its so frustrating but given the "B" names above, they appear in England. So if i can find peoplr born there around that time then perhaps i can establish a linkage?

Cheers

Dan :)

Hi Lizb

I am wondering if your Anne Bateman born 1814 had a brother Michael Bateman born 1814? Michael Bateman had three daughters per a paper. He died 14 November 1884 at 70yrs in Dublin

The Michael Bateman above is my many times g grandfather who married Ann Beville . i am hopeful to find someone who has common relatives as i am stuck.

Cheers Dan ;D

Robert John Martin born circa 1881Londonderry birth lookup. Father Robert John Martin

Robert John Martin (son in law of M Turner (incorrectly entered as N Turner) departing for NZ) . I know on his death certificate it said he was born Londonderry, I know on his marriage certificate (Church of Ireland) his father was also called Robert John Martin.  I am after his date of birth, his parents any siblings. Please note that he changed to Plymouth Brethren with his wife Clara Jane Martin (Nee Turner). If i use his age on his marriage certificate i have a birth year of circa 1881.

I am new to research (not my prowess) and i wonder if the following found on GRONI could be my Robert John Martin's parents: Married 27 July 1880, Robert Martin to Catherine McGroaty in Derry, Londonderry (Roman Catholic).  Clara Jane Turner's sister, Annie Ellen Turner,  left church of ireland to marry her catholic husband Felix Quinn, so this could be plausible?

The other Robert Martin born to a Robert Martin was 28/03/1880 Raleagh Down, Ireland, but this date wont work to give 28yrs of age on his marriage certificate.

I note that there is 1831 Census Maghera which has Robert Martin, i wonder if this is a great grandfather. I cant see a Robert Martin in 1841 census or 1851.

Hi Girl Guide,

It's Clara Jane Martin born 19/07/1919 Swatragh, Derry, Northern Ireland born to Clara Jane Martin and Robert Martin. The mothers maiden name was Turner.

We need the birth certificate to get a passport. As its not 2019, it wont be online, I am not sure on who to contact to order it. ??? ;D ;D
