Caernarvonshire / Re: Lloyd/Wynne/Llwyd/Williams-Beddgelert

Hi, a long time ago you were speaking of families that might have lived in Hafod Lwyfog. I have a David Roberts who lived there when he was married at Beddgelert in 1856.

He may just have been living there and not actually ownded the property.

His father was a William Roberts who had died by 1856.

Have you come across any of these names in your research Iwonder?

I am trying to find decendants of David Roberts (born Trefriw 1835) and his wife Eliza Davies (born Mold 1847)

they had 5 children,

Esther born Aus 1867 who married a James Newell
Robert born 1869 Aus who was in Conwy in 1901
Eliza born 1873 Aus who married a Thomas Bithel
David born 1877 at Conwy, he married an Edith Mary Jones
and
Winifred born 1879 in Trefriw

I would be very interested to hear from anyone who thinks that they might be connected to this family.

Hello Oletta, and any other Pears family members,

I have a feeling that a previous note I wrote didn't make it to the list, so I'm re-sending it, apologies if it's duplicated.

My husband is the Gt  Grandson of Robert Graham Pears, who was Frederick's brother and was  in business with Frederick in Penrith, prior to Frederick and family setting off for Australia.

I've been fascinated to read about the family over in Oz, and if I can help at all with any details of the family in the UK, I'd be more than pleased to.

regards, Elsbeth

Caernarvonshire / David (Dafydd) Roberts from Trefriw
« on: Saturday 04 June 11 15:00 BST (UK)  »
I am researching a David (Dafydd) Roberts born at Bryn Pyll, Trefriw in 1835.
He married an Elizabeth Mullholland (from Belfast) and also a lady (name unknown to me) from Connah's Quay

He had 5 children, Esther, Robert, Elizabeth, David and Gwen.

David lived in the  Auckland area of New Zealand in his final years, previous to this he was a master mariner.
He  died in 1890 in Sydney Australia whilst on a journey back home to Wales.

I am told that his son's served in the First World war "with distinction"

I am wondering if there is anyone reading this who might be connected to the family, if so could you get in touch. Thank you.

« on: Sunday 02 May 10 17:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi!
I am trying to find detail of a death of  David (Dafydd) Roberts. His second name may have been Donald.

He was born in Trefriw Caernarvonshire in 1835.
He married an Elizabeth Mulholland (date unknown) and at some time lived in New Zealand.
He was on his way back home to Wales in 1890 when he died in Sydney (Aus)
Is there any way of discovering more details of him and his family.
I believe he had 3 daughters, Gwen, Esther and Elizabeth and 2 sons
Robert and David
any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you very very much .. how did you do that?

yes I'm sure that's them as I remember an "Aunty Ethel" many years later.

Isn't it strange how THEY put their children's names down incorrectly .... what chance do we have all these years later?

many thanks once again, Elsbeth

Hello, thanks for your very helpful reply. I guess it was because James John was living with his Uncle that I didn't spot him in the 1881 census.

I have tried without success to find him (via Ancestry.co.uk) in the 1901 census, maybe I am doing something wrong. I have also tried the 1901 using his son's name (Ernest Charles Saxton) but still no luck there.

I think your theory about William Saxton (b 1812) having married twice is correct .. I believe from family lore that there were a total of approx 15 children from both marriages.. (phew)

Very many thanks for the time and trouble you have taken to help me, I appreciate it.

Elsbeth
