Wow, I looked to see if there was an RCE for the reg, glad you dug deeper, apparently another William mason lived in Ancrum and had John. Yes I was thrilled to see the details of children listed, maybe just in Peebles.

It must be very late your way, so I will bid you Good Night. Yes a tree with many twists and turns, ten years ago we had no idea my mum had such a past. I wish I could tour Ancrum someday.

If you search online for Southernknowe Studio,Causewayend,Ancrum, you will locate the family home which Richard's and Isabella's son Walter built, it housed several of our families until 1904 I believe, my great grandfather grew up there.

Richard Turnbull mason son of William Turnbull mason and Isabella Davidson his wife died at Causewayend Ancrum 5 June 1830. Isabella Turnbull wife of said Richard Turnbull daughter of the late Walter Turnbull weaver and portione of Lilliesleaf and Janet Walker his wife died at Causewayend Ancrum aged ...years George Turnbull their son ..... James Turnbull their son....20Walter Richard .... Turnbull also Walter Turnbull mason portioner 3rd son of the said Richard and Isabella Turnbull born 23 Nov 1803 died at Causewayend 31 January 1873 and Margaret Mitchie his wife and daughter of the late William Mitchie weaver Jedburgh and Jane Henderson his wife died 11th June 1870 aged 63. George Turnbull mason, thier son who died at Rookwood New Sydney Australia aged 41 20th Nov 1887.
Walter Turnbull mason who died at Causewayend 6 Feb 1904 aged 65 years and Elizabeth Ford his wife who died .... 1898. Elizabeth their daughter died 10 March 1892 in her 24th year

yes confusing, the sri death for john in 1855 has margaret young his wife, and margaret young as his mother,richard turnbull as his father

Funny you should say that...I was thinking the same thing about our Richard, regarding your John, I could find no instance of a Richard marrying a Margaret Young..
