My ancestor was also a hairdresser.  His name was Samuel Taylor, and he lived in Toxteth Park, Liverpool.  He is listed on the 1851, and 1861 censuses as a hairdresser.  Is there a hairdresser site where I can find out more about where he worked etc.?

Dawn, Mary Turnbull was my 1st cousin 4 x removed (this gets so confusing) lol.  Her mother Ann's brother Adam was my 4th great grandfather who came to Australia.  I would like to know where Mary and Andrew lived in the USA, when they died, and any information on their children.  Would it be easier if I gave you my email address?  I would appreciate any information you have on them.  Thanks heaps.  Cheers

Dawn, I'm also looking for Heatlie's from Selkirk.  The only information I have is that an Andrew Heatlie from Selkirk married Mary Turnbull in 1854 and they went to the USA in 1856

Thank you Alan, that is interesting about the name being spelt differently, but it sounds like the Mary Turnbull I am related to.  Cheers

I'm looking for information on Andrew Heatlie who married Mary Turnbull in Selkirk on 9 December 1854.  Mary was my ancestor, who's father Thomas Turnbull was innkeeper of the Black Bull Inn, Selkirk.  Thomas was born in 1795 in Hobkirk and married Ann Oliver (I come from her family).  I read somewhere that Andrew and Mary emigrated to the USA in 1856.

I don't have any information re Thomas Turnbull, but his wife Ann Oliver was my ancestor.  She was born in 1806 in Jedburgh, Scotland and married Thomas Turnbull on 11 December 1829,  She died on 26 January 1889 in Jedburgh.  I don't know if that helps you at all.
