hello again. I  have just got the death Cert for Hannah Taylor mentioned in 1911 census. She died 23 Nov 1913 in the workhouse. Son William James Taylor the informatant. His address still32 West Derby road .
He gives his mothers age this time as 74--so younger than on 1911 census .
Also says she is the widow of a John taylor a weaver--so those census returns I found with a William James  Taylor ,mother hannah,Father David are wrong.

Any thoughts please on how to find a birth record in Bacup for William James Taylor the son--having failed so far. Perhaps i should start a seperate thread?so as not to confuse the searches.

Just by way of update. The Death certificate for Judith Rothwell nee Taylor  shows her death on 2/2/1912 at 32 west derby Road--the same address as the 1911 Census. Informant her son William J Rothwell. But he gives his mothers age as 74--not 84 .

Hello again.

Sorry not to reply on your point Rosie  before now about Margaret Woodcock born  1875 Aughton. Taken a little while to sort records -but alas not the person I need. She married James Yates 15/10/1893 and died 16 Jan 1934 at Aughton.

Margaret and her family are proving a complete mystery. Her Husband Taylors family came from Bacup and were Baptists --would this affect the available records.?

I can find no Woodcock/ Heighway marriage--the name on the 1911 census and no Taylor /Heighway marriage.Or a plausable Taylor?Woodcock marriage .  Begining to wonder if Margaret Woodcock and William James taylor were married.
No luck on finding any birth record for May/Mary E Heighway  or Taylor.

Nor can I find a pausable death record for Williams mother Hannah Taylor aged 81 on the 1911 census.

This family is a mystery---perhaps deliberate ? and yet we pick up records from 1921 onwards.

I have ordered what I hope is the death record of Judith Rothwell in the hope of some clues.

Thanks. The 1911 census says Hannah had 7 children but only one  living. Still no joy on a Woodcock /Taylor  marriage  but that's a job for tomorrow. So much progress thanks to everyone.

Thank you . Will follow up on the possible birth of Margaret.
Perhaps not surprisingly a lot of families named Taylor in Bacup . Two census returns of possible interest but no mention of Judith Taylor with mother Hannah . But

1881 census a William James Taylor age 10 with Father David a tea merchant ,wife Hannah but born about 1836--so age out. ref Piece 4121 F32 p2
Then in 1891  a Hannah Taylor a widow age 58 with son aged 20  William J Taylor

Thank you both. I had discounted the marriage of John as it was not a name he appeared to use  but will look at again. He William James Taylor and wife are certainly a mystery couple.

Hello and thank you all ,certainly a lot of new ideas.  I hadn't considered she may have been a widow. Confused by Sons father listed in 1915  as Cromwell as it certainly isn't on the birth certificate. I wonder how many names he used and why was he not using Taylor in 1911??

 Hello
Margaret Woodcock ,latter Taylor and her family simply don't seem to exist before the Census return of 1921 and 1939 record despite me trying different spellings  and searching for different records.

From the 1939 record  Margaret Woodcock now Taylor date of birth is given as 22 March 1873 ,Widowed, a householder and living at 38 Kensington Road Southport . She continues to live here to her death in 1956. Also at that address is her daughter Noele Annie Taylor dob 25 Dec 1911.

At the time of Margaret's death  on 24 May 1956 ,reg Ormskirk she is shown as the widow of William James Taylor ,an estate agent.( Previously shown an Insurance agent on children's birth records.) But I have so far failed to find any marriage record. poss dates might be between 1900-1906.see below . Perhaps they didn't marry? but then who are their families.

On the 1921 Census her husband is listed as James Taylor b 1874 Manchester. living at 135b Oldfield Rd Salford. He listed Margaret and his 3 children as Born Manchester --although this was not the case. Their son Cromwell G Taylor b 1906 Prescot st Helens . Address 32 Croppers hill St Helens . Father William James Taylor Insurance Superintendent. Beatrice L b 1908  West Leeds ,father William James Taylor Insurance inspector.

Despite the unusual first name of their son I have not found the family on the 1911 census record. From the sons marriage cert in 1938 Southport   he lists his father as deceased.  Address as 38 Kensington Rd Southport and ties in with the 1939 record for his mother and sister . Father listed as estate agent .
I found not found  a death record for the father under William James Taylor or James Taylor.

When looking for a birth for Margaret Woodcock one in Burnley in 1873 looked worth exploring but the Dob there was 10/12/1872. One in Oldham was 3/2/1873.

Grateful for any help in trying make sense of this family.
Many thanks
