Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Re: X eyed with searching for ......
« on: Saturday 06 September 08 16:16 BST (UK)  »

Forgive me whilst I scurry away, give myself a good talking to, reprimand myself for not finding these myself and seeing if they fit Ooooopie!!

I hope it proves to be the right people.
Often helps to have fresh eyes look at something. I all too often diverge from what I'm doing because I've found an interesting name that could be one of mine. Searches like yours have no distractions for someone who knows no other facts. So don't be too hard on yourself ;D

Regards
Andy

Hi Exploration

Re this comment by Helen K

Witnesses Brignall ELLIOT, John HALL, John WARD.

I can tell you that Brignall Elliott was my 5xgreat grand father and married Roberts sister Mary Graham in 1807 in Kirk Merrington.
Doesn't help much but thought you might be interested.

I also have a tenuous link. The shipyard in Whitby where the Endeavour (Cooks ship) was built was owned by my 2nd cousin 7 times removed.
Strangely, I live in Whitby as well but am a Southerner by birth!

Don't want to throw a spanner in the works but did any of the siblings  marry when she was around 20?
The flowers look like those carried by bridesmaids and the bunting could be because they had a "do" afterwards at home.
Are you certain both parties are your great grandparents?
I would say she looks 20 +/- 2 years and he 24 +/- 3 years.

Completed Census Requests / Re: Maiden name for second marriage?
« on: Sunday 21 October 07 00:32 BST (UK)  »
Most entries I have seen have used her married name when she remarried but some local authority sites will show three names in the marriage entry such as John Brown, Mary Smith, Mary Green.
Hope this helps.
