Derry (Londonderry) / Re: Jones in Bovagh House/ castle, mid 19th century

Hello jennabtn It's nice to meet another cousin! I am descended from Martha Brown, the third daughter of Robert Brown and Jane Henery. Thanks for your information. I did have some of it already but not much on Mary's family that traveled to the US.  Martha and her husband Thomas Hogg (Hoag in the US) and children immigrated to NYC in 1848. Ive been able to find most of Robert's daughters with the help of Irish Lynn also on this thread, and where they wound up. If you're an ancestry user I have my tree  (public) listed under cheryl17854   both Irish Lynn and I have also done the DNA test with Ancestry as well. There are pictures of your Mary and Thomas online there....is that your tree?

Thanks I did find a Mark Piggott on the 1831 census with 5 males in the household that I thought could possibly be a fathe rwith my ancestor named for him I want to say that was in Dungivey or something like that...so hard to  prove anything. Unfortunately my Mark Pickett's death cert. in NY didnt name his parents and Im still trying to track down the other Pickett's mentioned. So glad my Brown and Hogg family wasnt as hard as this line...you helped me out a great deal with those Surnames. Im just sorry that PRONI misplaced my 4th gr grandfather Thos. Hogg's Will which does exist....hoping they find it one day.'

Derry (Londonderry) / Pickett of Londonderry

I am searching for ANY information on a Picket/Pickett family. My ancestor Mark Pickett immigrated to Albany New York on 27 May 1834 at the age of 26 with his younger brothers John age 20 and Robert age 18. The name was spelled as PICOTT on the ships register.. All from Londonderry. Mark was naturalized in May 1839 in Albany. The person vouching for him was a William Pickett....do not know the relationship between them. Any records at all would be much appreciated.

I am absolutely sure that this has to be the Will of my 4th great grandfather Thomas HOGG.
The three sons mentioned Thomas (my ancestor), Alexander and John are all accounted for in my tree. I did try to contact PRONI and the Will still does exist....and was accounted for in their records last year but somehow it has been misplaced since then. Supposedly they will still be looking for it :'(

PRONI D668/146/2. 28 July 1832 Copy of will of Thomas Hogg. Beneficiaries wife Molly; sons Thomas, Alexander, John; daughters Jane, Mary. Executors; Cornelieus Foy [Toy] and Alexander Foy [Toy].
Note: Molly is a nickname for Mary.

also saw this listed in 1834?

It's got to be there somewhere....hopefully they'll contact me when they do find it

Derry (Londonderry) / How can someone in the US get a copy of this Will?

PRONI D668/146/2. 28 July 1832 Copy of will of Thomas Hogg. Beneficiaries wife Molly; sons Thomas, Alexander, John; daughters Jane, Mary. Executors; Cornelieus Foy [Toy] and Alexander Foy [Toy].

Original Documents :   The original documents referred to in this index DO exist. Further information can be found under the PRONI reference above.
This would be located at the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland. (PRONI)

Is there a way to pay for a copy and have it sent to me? I'm afraid a trip to Ireland isnt a possibility and I'm convinced given the time frame and the names involved that this is the Will of my 4th Great Grandfather.

There is a Nancy Ramsey buried in the same plot in Green-Wood as Andrew Ramsey..Also a daughter of A. Ramsey in the same plot....
Theres another Andrew Ramsey b. Jun. 14, 1833 d. Jul. 26, 1850 in Union Cemetery, Bergen Co., NJ with a sister  Hannah 1831-1831 . Believe that would be Hoboken.

I'd like to track down the maiden of this Nancy, since we have a Nancy Hogg/Hoag, the only remaining child of Thomas and Martha Brown Hoag that I havent been able to track down.

does anyone know if this will possibly still exists and if so how can we get a copy?

PRONI D668/146/2. 28 July 1832 Copy of will of Thomas Hogg. Beneficiaries wife Molly; sons Thomas, Alexander, John; daughters Jane, Mary. Executors; Cornelieus Foy [Toy] and Alexander Foy [Toy].
Note: Molly is a nickname for Mary.

If so it might explain a lot...Thomas marries Martha Brown, Alexander marries Margaret Brown, and Irish Lynn, does a John Hogg marry a Heaney? Really think this will could be important to our research.
We already know that Thomas Jr's parents were Thomas and Mary from his death cert posted earlier  in this thread. Alexander's death cert (Hoag) should be available from NY State and may name his parents as well. We know he died in 1911.
