Hi Sue,

Leicester University Archive have a very good collection of such photos available on line. Have certainly found some photos of Great Holme Street there.

Regards,
Bernard.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Mary Jane MUSSON nee RILEY of Loughborough

Thanks so much again Diddy.
Mary Jane is proving to be a very problematic great grandmother.
You will see from the census that big variation in birth year estimates, and where born varies from census to census. From Loughborough to Leicester but always Leicestershire.
The Alfred that died in 1900 is definitely my great grandfather. The extra details are very much appreciated. The whole family left Loughborough for Leicester shortly after his death in 1900. Mary Jane MUSSON died in Leicester in 1908 the only fact about her that I am certain of that and the fact she is given has mother on my great uncle and grandfathers birth certificates.
Thanks again Diddy :)

Thank you Diddy, she is proving to be a very difficult person to trace. Have been trying for about 5 years now and have had several dead ends   :(

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Mary Jane MUSSON nee RILEY of Loughborough
« on: Tuesday 10 May 16 11:07 BST (UK)  »
Trying to find a birth and marriage for my great grandmother, Mary Jane mostly known as Jane MUSSON nee RILEY.

1871 census Loughborough, Jane MUSSON wife of Alfred MUSSON, b. abt.1848 in Leicestershire.
1881 census Loughborough, Jane MUSSON wife of Alfred MUSSON, status married, b. abt.1851 in Loughborough, Leicestershire.
1891 census Loughborough, M J MUSSON wife of Alfred MUSSON, b. abt.1850 in Leicester, Leicestershire.
1901 census Leicester, Mary J MUSSON widow of Alfred MUSSON, b. abt. 1851 in Leicestershire.

Jane MUSSON is mentioned at Loughborough Petty Sessions in 1869.
Great Uncle Alfred John MUSSON'S birth certificate, Loughborough 1869, gives mother as Jane MUSSON nee RILEY.
Grandfather Archibald Bernard MUSSON'S birth certificate, Loughborough 1887, gives mother as Mary Jane MUSSON nee RILEY.
Most of their children were baptised at All Saints Loughborough in the 1870s and 1880s.

If anyone has access to All Saints Parish Records or knows if they are on line, that would be very helpful. Have the Leicestershire Phillimore Marriage Records, but Loughborough and Leicester are not included :(

Really looking to find the birth of Mary Jane RILEY (abt.1848-1852), have no indication she was married prior to Alfred MUSSON, but she may have been. Do understand that she may never have married Alfred.

Thank you so much diddymiller, that is exactly what I wanted. Was hoping to get a response from you, you are so knowledgeable about Loughborough. Although I live in Leicester my knowledge of Loughborough is very limited. Hope to get to Loughborough this summer to check out the lay of the land and search through records.
Thanks again for your local knowledge  :D

Thank you. Dead Lane is still in Loughborough and on the map. I know where it is, just intrigued by the name and seeking more information on its history and connection to the local navigation.

Anyone help me out with information on DEAD LANE, Loughborough. Any thing on its history, particularly its connection with the canal and possibly boat people.
Have close relatives there in 1841, 1851, 1861 and 1871 census. In 1871 census their address is given as Canal Boat 5, Dead Lane, Loughborough.
Anything appreciated.

Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Daniel Kirk, Loughborough?
« on: Saturday 02 April 16 12:50 BST (UK)  »
Thanks diddymiller, I have the marriage 17th Nov 1771 Barrow Upon Soar, which gives KILK, very interesting that bos villages site (sorry never come across this site) says possible misspelt, I am sure that is correct.
Thanks for adding the information about William Musson, do have that information, indeed information on the MUSSON line back to the 1650s in Leicestershire.
I did not mean to hijack this thread on Daniel Kirk, so please disregard my query about the KIRKS.
So many thanks for your efforts at Loughborough library. Availability of records for Leicestershire on line are very good, but do seem to be lacking for Loughborough and Leicester for some strange reason.
Many thanks :)
