I am researching the Smiddy family and have been in contact with relatives in Australia.
Ellen SMIDDY was the daughter of Timothy Smiddy and Mary BEAUSANG/BOOZANE below.15. Timothy SMIDDY, (10. Thomas 4, 5.Timothy 3, 2.Thomas 2, 1. John 1) b. 1793,
Ballycrenane, Ballymacoda, d. 1873, Ballycrenane, Ballymacoda. (My Great-Great Grand
uncle).
He married Mary BEAUSANG/BOOZANE, c1831, (b. 1806, d.1883, aged 77yrs), Ballycrenane,
Ballymacoda. Around 1831 Timothy married Mary Boozanne, Timothy, was the youngest
son of Thomas and Catherine, and had been around 1790. Mary was daughter of
James Boozanne of Ballycrenane and had been born around 1803.
Timothy and Mary lived in Ballycrenene until 1840 in which time five of their
children were born. Thomas in 1832, John in 1833, Catherine in 1834, Ellen in
1836 and Mary in 1838. Their original home is still standing although unoccupied.
In 1840, the family went to live at the O’ Neils in Ballybraher, where their
subsequent children were born. James in 1840, Timothy in 1843, William in 1848
and Johanna in 1849.

She married Philip O'NEILL, 1852,b.c1827.
41. iv. Ellen SMIDDY, b. 1836, Cloyne, d. 1923. Went to Melbourne, Australia shortly after
marriage c1857. Had 12 children.
She married Patrick HIGGINS, 1857, b. 1835, d. 1903.42. v. Mary SMIDDY b. 1838, Ballycrenane, Ballymacoda, d. 1911.
She married Timothy Daniel McCARTHY, 1864, (b.1828 – 1896) , Tullagh. Timothy: Farmer
in Ballymacandrick near Cloyne.
43. vi. James SMIDDY, b. 1840, Ballycrenane, Ballymacoda.
He married Mary McDONNELL, 1871, b.c1845, Ballykenifick near Inch. Mary: They went to
Australia for a short while, returned and lived at Ballykenifick where he farmed.

45. viii. Johanna (Joanee) SMIDDY, b.1845, Cloyne, d. 1850
+ 46. ix. William SMIDDY, (b. May 9th 1848 - d. 1928) (Ballycrenane, Ballymacoda, Co.Cork)
died at Kilbarry House, Kilbarry, Cork).
He married Honora (Nora) MAHONY (b. 1853 - prior to 1940) (parents of Prof. Timothy
"Audo" SMIDDY).
47. x. Honoria ‘Johanna’ SMIDDY, b. c1851, Ballycrenane, Ballymacoda.
41. Ellen SMIDDY, (15. Timothy 5, 10. Thomas 4, 5.Timothy 3, 2. Thomas 2, 1. John 1) b.
1836, Cloyne, d. 1923. Went to Melbourne, Australia shortly after marriage c1857. Had 12
children.
She married Patrick HIGGINS, 1857, b. 1835/6, d. 1903. Cloyne. (---?): Emigrated to Australia
in 1837.Children -
