The Common Room / Passengers from India to UK

Hi Everyone, I'm trying to find passenger lists for those who chose to leave India for UK around the time of India independence.  Specifically looking to find William James and Ruby Mabel James (nee Burbridge) and family of at least two children Frederick and Maurice.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks for the info.  I will keep you posted if I come across anything new with my Prittlewell/Paglesham Browns that could link up with your family tree.  Great to hear from you.  Regards Mozzie.

Hi Watsonbrown,

Do you have any data on your Browns from Essex which we can start our search with?  Most of what I know is on this website.  Would love to go further with my Browns if possible - I have Clarke, Plumb, Hedgley, Cook connected with my Browns.  I also have Browns on two sides of my family from Essex which makes for a few complications sometimes.  I look forward to your reply

There is a Lilian Beatrice Roscrow born 1899 in Devonport who died 1911 aged 12 years.

Hi Kate,

I'm not sure if this is part of my family too, but just needed to verify which Roscrow family we were talking about.  Now that I know, I'll do some research to see if I can make any connection to my Roscrow family.  Will get back to you in a few days.  Regards Mozzie

Hi Kate,

Was your gran Violet Hilda Roscrow?  Her dad was a William Roscrow and was an officers cook in the Royal Navy in 1911.  Her mum would have been Annie Roscrow nee Martin.  William was born in Morice Town Devonshire and Violet Hilda and her mum Annie were born in St. Austel, Cornwall.  Do you think that this is your family?

Thanks for all your help.  For everyone that is researching this family, I do believe that Lucy Anne Church/Ginn, her sister Irene Frances Church/Ginn, their two husbands and the girls mother Frances Church sailed to Australia on the ship "Demosthenes", arriving in Albany, West Australia 14th Jan 1924 as part of the Group Settlement Scheme.  Regards Mozzie.

You've beat me to it.  Trying to put all the new data with other information from family and write an informative reply.  Will answer all individual messages and thank each one for their greatly appreciated time and help.  I know that "rootschat" is by far the best genealogy website online and definitely the most helpful that I've ever come across to date.  Regards Mozzie
