Renfrewshire / Re: Auchentorlie house

Tried to download photo of Auchentorlie House but it didn't work.  I have a few census records of the Cattenach family from when my great grandparents lived in the lodge house.

I'm sorry I do not have any further information on Auchentorlie House.  I had it in my family tree when it was a private house and my great grandfather was a coachman there.  I don't have any idea what happened to the private records or if the Renfrewshire Heritage site can be of more help.  Good luck on your search.  Lizanne x  ps.  Have you seen the site on facebook Missing People Scotland I would try that as it is very popular.

In fact, the hotel gives a special weekend rate. Details can be obtained from the manager, Mr Redmont.

The Strathclyde Suite in the Bath Hotel is available for weddings, functions, etc.' and it won't cost you anything to hire it.

The Campsie Bar, the Hotel's attractive lounge, is another favourite spot. For couples and residents only, the bar is open at weekends.

Copy and pasted.  I actually remember going to the La Caverna bar late 60s early 70s in the Bath Hotel, Bath St. Glasgow

Scotland / Re: Old Photos Copyrite
« on: Friday 20 June 14 20:07 BST (UK)  »
Sort of makes sense.  Its old photos going onto facebook so don't see how it's a new image and it's getting spoiled with huge copyrite lettering and some are general ones from other sites but their copyrite is getting put on it.  e.g. old postcard (I have the same ones and shared but wouldn't dream it's mine to copyrite
ps Thanks for taking time to reply

Scotland / Old Photos Copyrite
« on: Friday 20 June 14 19:55 BST (UK)  »
I know copyrite is quite complicated but the reason I am asking is I am confused how some really old pictures have a copyrite right over the middle of a photo spoiling it and the copyrite is someone who is alive but the picture is ancient.  Hope I am making sense.  I was led to believe the copyrite is owned by the person who took it and lasts till 70 years after they have died and if you don't know who took the photo it is still the photographers copyrite.

John Street in Paisley no longer exists.  My grandfather was born in John St which was at the westend roughly where the new road takes you down to the gasworks and the roundabout at the Underwood Rd/Well St end.

Renfrewshire / Renumbering streets in Paisley 1923
« on: Saturday 15 December 12 13:35 GMT (UK)  »
I came across this site and found it handy when I realised where I thought a rellie may have been born the streets have now been renumbered and it was probably across the road!  I tried to copy and paste the website but it didn't work so anyone interested just google and there is 31 pages of streets with old and new street numbers.
