Yes I think the vagaries of scribes does make a lot of sense and is very plausible.

An email I have just received from K Jack
Hi,
I have not heard of Tighphealie only Arpafeelie which is in a similar area but many crofts were joined to make larger farm units and the names dropped out of use. I suggest you contact Highland Archives, Bught Park, Inverness Tel. 01463 256444 as they may have old maps.

Im sure my "Jack" family is linked to this Jack Clan just that my Janet Jack isnt listed there. The same area, church and burial ground......... I just havent done any research on the "Jack" name yet. Just as my Logan family arent yet linked to the Logans of Ross & Cromarty - Im possitive they would be just not enough research yet. My branch of the Logans came to Australia in 1865 and the other branch to Canada. Must have been horrendous times for breaking up of families. My brother went to Scotland 3 years ago and connected with some Logans living ar Munlocky. They didnt know much about our Logans and we didnt know about Tighphealie back then. Anyway, my brother wants to show me the places he discovered hence the big trip to Scotland next May/June and the search for Tighphealie  haha!

Thanks Annie had a good look at your links, have seen the Jack website before but had a much more serious look this time. The page with references to Tighphealie that I posted before comes from a book - The Logans of Ross & Cromarty (Cynthia Rae Huffman Sweet) - my Logan family is listed as an unconnected family in it but the interesting thing is the spelling of another place in Knockbain Parish. Ten Acres, Tenacres, Tighnacre. All are indexed under Tighnacres. The use of Tighn and Ten might be relevant do you think?

My first reply from heritage@hbnet

Thank you for your e mail regarding your ancestors on the Black Isle.  I’ll pass your query on to another who might know, but Knockbain was a small place just up from Munlochy in the Black Isle and the present church in Munlochy is called the Knockbain Church of Scotland so I suspect the area you’re looking for would be around this area.  You should be able to find Munlochy on the map of the Black Isle.  However, since we are going back a bit, there might well have been a church in Knockbain itself.
As mentioned , I’ll pass this on.

Thanks very much for the info,  :) I will follow that up. Later in life he is noted as a farmer at Blairfoid so I can see I'm looking in the correct general area. The origin of the notes and spelling is unknown.
