« on: Saturday 27 November 21 16:44 GMT (UK)  »
There is a baptism in Michelmersh for a Sarah Geary 10th February 1775 -Father John mother S....
I see that it is the same date as the one you have with parents James & Sarah

This is somethingg that I have found too - what are the chances of 2 Sarah Gearys brnig born iin the same village to two mothers with the same name ?
I wonder whether John is the same person as James ?

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / Geary Ventham - Michelmersh Hants
« on: Saturday 27 November 21 15:38 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find the ancestors of Sarah Geary (married John Ventham in 1796) - I have Sarah birth as 10 Feb 1775 and death as April 1840 (burial 5th Apri) - but have another record showing Sarah Geary as a pauper in 1851 (confusing) - unless there is another Sarah Geary same age - same locality
and yet another record showing a Sarah Ventham in same location in 1861 (aged a remarkable (for a poor country woman) 86 - is this the same person - how can I know ?
I have her mother as Sarah (C/K)imber and Father as James Geary but they would have both been 50+ when Sarah G was born (too old) - so what I need is someone to confirm that I have the correct people
Thanks

Surrey / Thames Watermen (Snell)
« on: Monday 11 December 17 16:05 GMT (UK)  »
My ancestors were Thames Watermen
So far - I have a James Snell (14 August 1769 - 28 August 1806) living in Richmond
His father, appears to be Henry - but at this point I run out
I have found details of 3 Henry Snells, baptised in Richmond area in 1755 - which would make them only 14 when James was born (not impossible - but unlikely)
Any help/advice welcome
Thanks

World War Two / Re: Grandfather in ARP
« on: Sunday 26 March 17 13:48 BST (UK)  »
Thanks - yes he was a teacher - I have a copy of the newspaper article and am mainly looking for his burial details - which graveyard etc ?
As far as I am aware - he was living at home (Filey/Scarborough) at the time of his death - so "hotel" confuses me !
Is anyone able to confirm that he was buried at St Oswalds ?
(I live approx 300 miles south of Filey)
thanks

My Grandfather (Eric Hutchcroft) was in the ARP in Scarborough - he died on Christnas day 1940 - of a heart attack - no idea if he was on-patrol at the time
Nobody (including his Children) know where he is buried
Are records held of this ?
Where ?

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / John Vincent Batty - 1909 Wakefield - 1987 Hull
« on: Friday 24 February 17 11:29 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find out more about my great uncle, John Vincent Batty who was born in Wakefield in 1909 and died in Hull in 1987.
He appears to have been a "Jack the lad" breaking up two marriages (with an Emma Gaunt and a Beatrice Walford) - his second wife (Beatrice) - he married in 1942 and the couple appear to have adopted 2 children (although one "may" may have been from Beatrices former marriage !
I am trying to obtain any info on the two children - are they still alive ?
Also - when did Beatrice die ?
To add to the confusion - John Vincent Batty - may have been known as Jack (although no deed poll was registered) and also his probate has his surname as Battye (extra "e" at the end)
According to his Neice - he sold DIAMONDS and drove an expensive car !
He was a police war reservist in 1939 and no children were registered as living with him and Beatrice at this time...
