Rose was a twin - both her & sister Lily were baptised 17.7.1889 in Kilnhurst.  Lily died March qtr 1891 but Rose is not found in 1891

Birth registered as Haigh as previously stated and baptisms as Haigh but Hannah is shown as Hague on her death reg

I had the baptism for Rose but never saw the image (It was text only) so didn't realize she was a twin.

You can search the General Records Office (GRO) https://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates/Login.asp and it will show you the mother's maiden name.

Thanks, I never realized it did that for births before the maiden name was on the indexes. I'll definitely be using that trick in the future!

Matthew Hague & Annie White marriage June qtr 1879 Rotherham 9c 673

The name Hannah is often found as Ann or Anna or Annie

Thank you! Thought it may have been her but couldn't find anything to prove it.

I have also seen the 2nd Marriage for Matthew. They ended up having quite a few kids together. It's just Hannah I could never find anything about other than her death.

 Thanks again everyone!

Checking against John and Rose I think you will find her maiden name was White. They are on the birth register with their surname spelt as Haigh.

Where did you find the maiden name? I have looked on the birth index and it didn't mention the mothers maiden name. Thank you for the help!

I am unable to find anything on my 4th great Grandmother. She is in the 1881 census living in Swinton under the name Hannah Hague aged 18 with her husband Matthew Hague aged 23. She soon died in 1889 living in a few houses down from her house in 1881. On the 1881 she is given a birthplace and year of 1863 in Swinton.

They had 4 children Sarah, Matthew, John and Rose with the youngest being born just a few months before Hannah's death. I am unable to find a maiden name for her and the only marriages I can find for a Matthew Hague at that time was to either an Annie, Ann or Matilda. Could she be either of of these women? And how could I prove which one she is?

NFHS Transcription of graves at Shimpling

John Catchpole died February 1827 age 84, Rebecca his wife died March 1835 age 91, also their daughter Sarah died January 1841 age 35.

Just in case it helps sort family members.

Not sure who this could be in relation but most likely something.I'll have to have a further look at this. I'm thinking it may be his parents and sister but John's baptism in 1767 shows parents of Jonas and Rebecca catchpole. Maybe there could have been some misspelling or something similar?

Did you notice the other Catchpole families on the same page in both the 1841 and 1851 censuses

 Hi Carol,

I had noticed in 1841 but not I 1851. I’ll have to have a look at those families again. They could possibly be related.

And thank you Jackie, the main issue that made me question this is her name but she must’ve just dropped the Anne as she got older. This seems to be most likely the Mary I’m looking for.

I’m just wanting a second (probably more experienced) opinion on whether I’m going in the right direction with my family.

My 4th great-grandad, Horace Catchpole was born around 1835 to an unmarried woman called Mary Catchpole in Shimpling Norfolk. In 1841 I can see they are both seen living with a 75 year old John Catchpole. I have since concluded that this is most likely Mary’s Father.

No I can see a John Catchpole married Mary Coloman in 1797 (just a few years prior to Mary Catchpole’s birth). However I never got any hints of a baptism for Mary, I did some searching and found one in 1799 in Shimpling.

I’m just wanting to see if anyone may either know about this family or can see if any of these links seem credible (I’ve made too many mistakes to trust myself 100% with guesses ;D ). Any new information would also be appreciated too!
