Thanks for comments. Successfully found death of James (whose twin brother was my great grandfather ) who died at the age of 5. He died of water on the brain (hydrocephalus). The strange thing about this is that I have twin grandsons who were born with hydrocephalus which was treated. We celebrated their eighteenth birthday last week. One of them is James. :)

I don't know what I was doing wrong but this one has not come up in my searches. I suspect it's the one but as brother James was born in June 1860 the death and birth are very close. Thanks for your help.

Appeared on Family Search Baptisms which showed  dates of birth as identical.

My GGGrandfather William Beattie was born in Kilbarchan (Linwood) in 1854. Father , Joseph ; Mother, Faithy (Faithful). I have just discovered that he had a twin brother James who has never been mentioned in the family. As William had another brother born in 1860 called James Wallace Beattie I am assuming that the first James died. I can however find no trace of a death during those 6 years. Any suggestions welcome.
