I'm wondering if anyone can help me please.  I have used Family Search and found a marriage for Eileen Wickins - 10th May 1949  I think the registration number is 11397  or 10397 - writing was a bit blurred.  This marriage was for Manhatten Marriages  .  Now this shows on the Brides Page - how can I find out who she married? Is there a way of cross referencing  the number perhaps for the grooms page.  Thanks so much in anticipation.

Thank goodness you qualified that statement, I was about to get ready for guests - which would mean cleaning the house - waste of time,  I would rather be doing family history.
Thanks again no rush,  will definitely get that pint to you some how!!! Qantas want $2300 return which is a lot more than what I paid in 2019 - just prior Covid. :'(

The Common Room / Looking for help at TNA - Kew
« on: Sunday 22 January 23 22:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
I'm posting here to see if anyone may be able to help me.  I'm wanting to look up some records at Kew however I live in Australia.  I have sent 3 emails to people on the TNA "suggested" list of professional genealogists.  I am very happy to pay, sadly only one of the three people have replied and that person said they are no longer doing business?
I'm trying to find the service records of a Merchant Navy Seaman.  I am enclosing the correct volume/s to be checked:-

BT 382/1938
Wickenden A L to Wiggans G F
1941 Jan 01 - 1946 Dec 31
The National Archives, Kew

and also as he continued in the Merchant Navy after WW2

BT 382/3040
Whorlow A H to Wiggett V G
1941 Jan 01 - 1972 Dec 31
The National Archives, Kew

The name of the man I am looking for his service record/s is
Victor James Wickens  (name could be spelt Wickins)
His date of birth - 10th March 1926 - London - Poplar
Date of Death  - 11 April 1994 - Lewisham

I would be so appreciative if anyone could help me out.  I'm happy to pay and I'm also happy to reciprocate in any way for anything that may be required here in Australia not available online.

Once again thank you for taking the time to read my request.
Cheers

Can anyone tell me apart from the list of recommended NA researchers nominated on the NA site is there anyone connected to Roots chat that can perform a look up information for someone in Australia?

Hello again
Hugh, thanks so much for taking the time to help me - I do appreciate it.  If ever I can be of help with any Australian research please let me know.

Your advice about going down rabbit holes is very sound and something that traps me often, so no I wont seek info from Maritime.   I have sent a couple of emails to some researchers on the current TNA researchers list to get a couple of quotes- (fingers crossed we eventually get some information) I don't mind paying money but the last guy I paid 200 AUD gave me nothing and took an inordinate amount of time to get back to me- months in fact and had all kinds of excuses - I now note his name does not appear on the current list, yes!
I'll let you know when I get some news.
Many thanks
Janette -  better summers day here than yesterday ! Cheers
