That’s great. I’ll make sure I get those next time I renew my ancestry subscription!
Many thanks for your help  :)

Hello,
I'm researching the MASON branch of my family tree, and am looking for the DoBs of both James MASON (c. 1809) and Harriet MANCHESTER (c. 1812), who married in 1832 in Little Bedwyn.
Would anyone be kind enough to check if they have a record of either of these?
I'd love to know the parents' names too.
Many thanks!  :)

Gloucestershire / Re: looking for a king family

Hello,
I know this is quite an old thread, but we are descended from Emily H H King. She is our ggg grandmother. We found her in the census 1891 & 1911, married to William Haines. There is no sign of Thomas and Sarah King living with them in those years.
Thanks for all the helpful pointers in this thread.  :)

Hi Connie,
I think I've already sent you the link to the online Blachford tree, right?
http://www.family-forest.co.uk/familytree/groups/grpname6.shtml#Blachford
I haven't checked all the info on there, but what I've looked at so far seems pretty good. It also includes some transcriptions of wills and things.
Good luck, cheers,
Owen

Yes, she was :D

Hallo cousin! :D

I haven't done much with the COLE family as yet. I'm not sure if I have the right family in 1841.

I've attached the BRAN family as far as I've gone at the moment. I'm still working on that.  The children shown in green are those I'm not sure of.  I'm pretty sure there's one missing, hence there being 5.
:D Great to meet you!!

I have a lot more information on the Brans - I've been trying to do a bit on their tree as well - a very interesting family, if you hear some of the local stories I got from my Grandfather...

I will keep it brief here, so we don't take the thread off topic, but I'll send you a PM with a lot more details.

I believe William and Ann were married in Kinson, Dorest. I think you can find the marriage record here: http://www.opcdorset.org/KinsonFiles/KinsonMars.htm

I believe they had 13 children:
William (1814)
Mary Ann (1815)
Elizabeth (1817)
Joseph (1819)
Robert (1821-1872)
John (1823)
Jane (1824)
Emma (1825)
James (1828-1909)
George (1831)
Edward(1834)
Susannah (also 1834?, probably 36)
Eliza (1837)

I didn't have Ann Alner's parents, so that is helpful.
Will drop you a PM anyhow

Jane COLE, my great grandmother, was the youngest child of Richard and Jane (nee BRAN).  She was apparently born in Pennington in either 1864 or 1866 but I can find no birth registration for her.

Out of interest, was the Jane BRAN born in 1824? If so I'm descended from her brother, James.

I have some Coles from Lymington in my tree, a John Wavel COLE, who married Martha READ. Their children were Adeline (b.1866, George b. 1850, Henry W b. 1856 & Emma E b. 1863). Probably doesn't help you much, but I sympathise about the lack of online resources for the area!

Thanks Kim.
It should say Margaret's maiden name on the wedding entry, but I can't read it. I've put it as an attachment to this post, if anyone else can make it out...

Thanks again for the recent thoughts and updates.
I am wondering about two possibilities - either, as Kim suggested, he emigrated and his wife never saw him again, else James was a middle name, and he was also known as something different, possibly death registered with the different name?
I agree it is strange that we only have these 2 records of him.

Hi

Think you mean Thomas's mother Sarah in 1901 at 30 Taylor Street. They are shown as boarders. She is recorded as married and with occupation of paper bag maker.

William

Thanks William - I did indeed mean Sarah (Margaret was her mother)! Forgive me, its been a long day  ;)
Thanks for the info though, which suggests James was still alive at that point.
