Hi All.
Thank you so much for the replies, you are so good to give your time. Since my first post I have come along way in finding out about the Cummins + McDonald connections, in Queens County but, cannot get past John Cummins, an apprentice painter with Matthews in Portarlington prior to him joining the army. We know that his Farther died in 1861 when John was only one year old and his mother Bridget left for New York taking her older children with her leaving John to be raised by his Grandmother  ****** Mc Donald. I cannot find Bridget's Mother or Family nor the death of James, his father, There are two marriages I have found one a "Bess Md Donald" another a "Bridget" marrying a James Cummins at different times??? Conundrum... which is it without proof of Bridget's parents I cannot proceed. I would love the birth and death cert of James Cummins died 1861. Could it be he died away, say in the Army? Is there anywhere in Laois that may have "local" records.

Again many thanks

I am looking for information regarding a James Cummins married to a Bridget Mc Donald and died in 1861. They had children and more specifically a John (William) Cummins (AKA McDonald) who was raised by his Grandmother ******** Mc Donald. John was born in 1860 "Queens County". and states that he was an apprentice painter for a company called "Matthews in Portarlington. He went on to join the army.  He married on the 2nd June 1889 to a Jane Dunne 1861-1936 also from Queens County, who also had a brother named Dennis Dunne 1870-1951 and a sister Mary Ann 1878 and lived their lives in Dublin. I am looking for any information on James or a direction to any person or organisation in the area that could assist .

Gosh... the further you go back the more difficult it gets. Excuse my ignorance, i'm reasonably new to this, but is it possible to see it all in one place / family, like a census or similar for the period?
.

Thanks Guys...I got the parents names from their marriage cert from Harrington Street Dublin. In relation to Guinness records I only found a record for Denis Dunne as a Drays man. Name: Denis Dunne, Birth Date: 9 Feb 1870. Date Joined: 16 May 1893. Age Joined:    23. Residence:    Dublin, Ireland. Death Date: 27 Mar 1951. as yet no record for John, (I will keep shaking the tree). The history from Portarlington I will follow up.. Many thanks and if by chance you find something please contact..

Thank you so much for your reply, I have that information and it has confused the situation a little... Who were they in Ireland, where did they live in Queens County, how many was in that family, was he born in NY or traveled there,  how did that family get there, at the moment it's like looking for a needle in a haystack? as I don't know their family here in Ireland, information from Ireland might just open up some possibilities and ensure I have got the correct family.

If someone could assist in furthering information regarding the Cummins or Dunne Family. I am looking for information on a John Cummins 1860 and Jane Dunne 1861, both born in Queens County, Laois. I have them marrying on Jun 2nd 1889 St Paul's, Arran Quay, Dublin, Ireland and went on to have 7 children with 5 surviving Mary Cummins(1890–)William Cummins(1891–)
James Cummins(1897–1966) Kathleen Cummins(1900–1976) and Annie Cummins(1903–)

Requesting mainly information for John, I have them in 1911 in Dublin and the possible parents to John Cummins are James Cummins and Bridget McDonnell B.abt.1840? in Laois. The possible parents to Jane Dunne are Daniel and Mary B. abt. 1840? Where did they come from as I have no detail really of them in Queens County

Really appreciate any info
