Census and Resource Discussion / Harriet
« on: Thursday 12 September 19 17:09 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone... I'm looking for Harriet....Born 1840 in Newark Nottinghamshire to John and Sarah Ingleton the 5th of 10 children. 1872 she marries Henry Herbert Whitworth ,by the follwing spring both Henry and her child had died...move on to september 1873 and marriage to Alfred Towers. Their daughter Elizabeth was born 1875 , registered in Newark. Alfred can be found boarding with his brother and the family in Manthorpe Grantham .on the 1881 census but I cannot find anything of the girls.
I've run out of ideas and there must be more to Elizabeth than a Birth certificate .
          Fingers Crossed

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Pakker
« on: Monday 01 January 18 20:36 GMT (UK)  »
Having at long last discovered the marriage of Richard Banting to his Sarah in  East Lockinge Berkshire on 31 Dec 1815 , its completley floored me to find that she is a widow and her surname is Pakker. If anyone can help me discover the origin of said Sarah I would be most grateful.
The transcription suggests she was a resident of Wantage and her witnesses were William Pryor and Mary Gearing.
Could Pakker be a spelling mistake for Packer or Parker ?

Richard Banting originated in Bampton Oxfordshire ,son of James and Martha and brother to the famous Thomas Banting of Pall Mall. Born 1785 and Died 1833. Sarah Died 1831 Oxford.
     Fingers crossed.......

Hi Ribbo......Yes I'm sorry I should have mentioned Bampton. I have all the sibling info on the Bantings from Bampton , its just Richards marriage I cant find. I know her name is Sarah but I don't know where she comes from or where they married....Their eldest daughter Mary born 1820 was christend with sister Martha on 8 Sept 1823 at St Thomas's .
Mary married William Smith in Oxford in Oct 1843 and promptley left him for William Knobbs. They had a child William Charles who was registered as Knobbs but christend as Smith. So I would like to know where William Knobbs hails from. All I have is 1820 Oxford.
Mary died in Watlington in 1850.
     Fingers still crossed

Maybe to cover illigitamacy seeing as the birth of William Knobbs was registered by Mary Knobbs nee Banting the only fib would be that she wasn't Mary Knobbs but Mary Smith.
Which would be more frightening the fib to the church or to the registra or to your husband.
     Thanks everyone

Will purchase the marriage certificate.....watch this space
