US Completed Requests / massachusetts deaths 1940s

Would anyone with newspaper access be able to look for obituaries for my great, great aunts please? Mary Ann Kindlan died 1941 in Springfield and Susan Kindlan died 1945 in Belchertown. I don't have the exact dates only the volumes and pages from the death index, would ideally like the certs but can only see option for certified copies which require govt ID and are expensive, all a bit difficult from overseas (UK). Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks I get it now. Maybe he changed his name because of the felony he committed in the militia which got him discharged from there in 1905, prob never know. Doesn't seem to have had a good life all in all, died single at 45 from bronchopneumonia.

I appreciate your help Jim.

I know, I don't really understand what's going on.
His actual date of birth is 10th March 1887 and there isn't another Peter Kindlen born in Scotland until 1937, I checked. His MGC number is 7517, I get your point that it should be much higher but the other men on that page have ones similar to him. I have a record of his court martial in MGC 4th March 1916 so he had joined them then (was found not guilty).

The disability was a GSW to the arm.

If you make any more sense of it would be great to know.

So he must have joined the CH first in 1913 as John Scott? Then deserted on 5th Nov 1915, come home in and joined the HLI as himself, Peter Kindlen as his name is  mentioned in the local paper as joining the HLI 19th Nov 1915, been found out and rejoined the CH in 1916? Is that right? Can't quite read the red writing clearly on the attachement you included yesterday, sorry.

Wow that's great, bit clearer now! I did see somewhere else that he sent a medal back.
Thanks for that Jim.

Thanks Jim. Sorry to be stupid but how did you work out that he deserted and rejoined? His real name was Kindlen, I suppose he must have admitted it to them if his numbers the same?

A relative of mine Peter Kindlen has a pension and ledgers card from WW1 under the name he was born with but on the card it says alias John Scott, the regimental number is 9384. He was drafted into the Seaforth Highlanders and then the Machine Gun Corp. I've also found a pension and ledgers entry for John Scott alias Peter Kindlen same reg no.  but Cameron Highlanders. How could he have an alias and be in 2 regiments?
