My grandfather William Hall Graham served in WW1 after serving in India. He survived the war. I know there was a memorial to the old contemptables, which he was one, in a town in either France or Belgium erected in honour of them. I saw a photograph several years ago online of it, but then my computer crashed and I lost it, together with his military record. He was from Hartlepool County Durham and I believe he could have been in the engineers, and was possibly a Corporal. The memorial consisted of 4 soldiers standing and holding their rifles and was built in a town square. The mayor attended its unveiling as well as a British officer. I would appreciate any info at all. Thanks.
