Us Rootschatters dont take kindly to folk who think its a hobby.................... because its not........Its a matter of life and death lol!!! ;D

Joe, I'm understanding that clearly already LOL!!!  Sitting here trying to do some other work, I have quietly logged onto here and GenesReunited to build the tree!!  been doing it just 3 days and not gone to bed before 2am - am off on a weekend scrapbooking this weekend but am expecting my grandads birth cert tomorrow morning!  Guess I won't be going to work till postie gets here and won't be doing much scrapbooking over the weekend if he delivers!  LOL!! Already I can't sleep straight away as my mind is churning and I'm dreaming about the Scotish census!!  how sad!!  I'm sure you've all been where I am at the mo tho!!!  Please tell me you have! ???

As a Scrapbooker (not the sugar paper kind) I thought it would be really nice to trace my grandfathers side of the family for his 90th birthday this year - being an only child who's father died when he was just 10 months old he knows nothing about his heritage.  I am desperate to get all his memories out of his head and scrapbooked before he pops it.

Now, it is not just a hobby of mine Scrapbooking, but a passion and a full time  business, (which is steadly growing into the new card making.) You all probably understand that documenting your heritage is important but us scrapbookers use a creative way to do it on archival papers and albums.  Well, a scrapbookers husband who is helping me research my family has led me to this site and browsing through the posts I've just cottoned on to the fact that this is a hobby!!! :o  Best I don't tell my DH this cos he is very supportive of my scrapbooking considering it is a business but another hobby that keeps me up to 2am!!!  I don't think he could cope!!  LOL!!  So as I write this I feel like I'm on the 12 step plan and I have to confess I'm hooked already! So that must make me a Geneaholic right?

Ok, there was one hit for Robert haggerty in the 1871 census but 312 for Ann Hay.
1861 census brings up 268 for Ann Hay.  There were 2 hits in the 1861 census so that means his father is probably called Robert too. Probably worth spending the £6 as each marriage, death or birth you look at will cost you 6 credits.
HTH.

I have only just started tracing my roots but I started with a Scotish decendant and the site www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk is a great start - you have to buy credits to view but I'm so impressed with the results.  I traced back about 15 people in one night for £12 - it would of cost me a fortune to fly up and do the research.  You get 30 credits for £6. I will have a quick look to see if they are listed.
