Hi Rosemary,

Have you tried putting together a time-line for the location of the Coldstream Guards as it relates to readily available data, like, census years?

Example: in 1891 the Coldstream Guards were located (I do not know where, I am just making an example) Suffolk. Then look for last name matches, etc.. For this example there happens to be a George Thomas Ford born Ireland c1872 in the infantry in Suffolk.

I saw that you found a draft card. Do you know if he served in WWI? (Does his obit say he was a veteran?)

I NOW BELIEVE THAT GEORGE MAY HAVE BEEN IN MISSOURI IN 1920.  CAN ANYONE CHECK THIS FOR ME?

There is a George born England (c1873) in Missouri. He was naturalized in 1895. With these two dates differing from the info you posted, it is probably not him.

There is a George born England (c1878) in Terre Haute, coal miner.

Max,

The National Archives of Scotland has criminal court records and has several Mary Swan cases listed. Here is a link to the search page.

There was also a James Swan (born c 1821) in the same prison at the same time. Not sure if they are related.

I found this family in 1910 in Bradford county Pennsylvania. He is listed as a minister. There is much info on 2 pages.

There is another son named John (besides Philip and Charles) and four girls: Grace, Lilian, Ruth and Charlotte(a?).

Marriages in Pennsylvania are held at the county courthouse where the marriage took place. There is no statewide index.

I found your Phillip in 1910 in bradford county. He is listed as a minister. There is much info on 2 pages. Rather than risking typos,

I wanted to add that I found a James in Minnesota in 1900:

James Quigley born England Oct., 1857, Shoe Maker. Father & Mother born Ireland. Naturalized 1889.

Found no other James' from England in 1900 or 1910 census. You may want to look at deaths in New York. Follow this link:

I also found a Thomas F. from England in Arizona in 1910 whos birth year matches your Tom,  naturalized 1880, was a copper miner and lists both parents from England. Has a wife named Ella age 50 born England. They had children James 10,  Helen 7, Isabel 5 all born in Pennsylvania. Bartholo(a)mew age 2 born Arizona.

Hi Mavis,

I found only one that seems close to your Benjamin. It is from 1920 census in Michigan. There are several entries that are confusing and difficult to convey to you without the image in front of you. Here is a link to the image:
