Hi TasGal,

I am still working through various bits of this family and haven't had a chance to work through this particular mystery yet.

Thanks for the info and confirmation of Flora and William RILEY.

Hopefully this weekend I'll find some time to have a better look.

Debbie

Hi Debra,

I apologise for not getting back to you sooner, especially when you have found so much in such a short space of time. As with a lot of things, you just need to know where to look (and have the time - which is a big part of my problem!)

This is going to take a bit of time to digest and work through.

Thanks for all your help.

Debbie

Hi Kalli,

Nice to hear from another Grundy relative.

I'm not sure how much I'll be able to clear up for you.  Most of the information I have on the older generations of the Grundy's is from a cousin who invested a lot of time in researching, buying certificates and going through parish registers in the UK.

I have only been given Maria Hales as the mother of all 8 Grundy children.  She is the daughter of John Hales and Mary Farmers.  If John and Maria married, it would have been in Berkshire, England.  The 6 oldest children were born in Shrivenham, Berkshire and the 2 youngest in Longford, Tasmania.

I haven't been able to track down the death details for Maria.

I haven't done much on the Grundy's for quite a while and have a few gaps to fill in.

Sorry this isn't much help, but I'm very happy to sure what information I have on the Grundy family with you.

Hi,

I only have information on John Murray and Alison Hope and their descendants as I am related through Alison's sister, Helen Hope.  I don't have anything going further back on the Murrays.

I will be quite happy to share what information I have gathered with you.

If you post another 2 messages we will be able to send personal messages and I can then share my information with you by email.

I will be at a course for the next couple of days with no internet access so please don't expect to hear from me for a little while.  I will get back to you though.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your responses.  Unfortunately work got in the way  :'( and this is the first chance I have had to check the messages.

Cupoflife I very much appreciate your offer. There is no rush but if you are in a position to look it up that would be great. JM - your offer was also appreciated.  I hope you enjoy your visit to Sydney next year.

Dawn and Sue - thanks for your comments.  Yes, I am in Sydney and would love to spend time at the State Library but at the moment with work and Christmas coming up, the time just isn't there. This is one mystery I would like, hopefully, solved so I can move on to some other research so thought I would ask the question here on Rootschat and see if someone else could fit this into one of their own visits.

Anyway, off to enjoy some lunch before finalising the November accounts.  There is always something!!

Once again, thanks to everyone for their interest.

Australia / SMH Death Notice Lookup 1998
« on: Tuesday 09 December 14 05:37 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Can someone please look up the following death notice in the SMH for me?

John Thomas BELL, SMH 24 Dec 1998, late of Adelaide formerly of Balmain.

I have looked everywhere on-line I can think of.  I have the notices from the Adelaide Advertiser (in case someone sees Adelaide and suggests that - Wonderful service from the SA State Library!).  Unfortunately they have no family information in them so I can't prove this is the one I am looking for yet.

Thanks,

Debbie

Hi Maggie,

Great to hear from you.  I will admit I haven't done much on this line for a while and haven't found any more information than what was on the original message.  They seem to be a mystery.

I would love to share what information I have and would love to know more about Euphemia and William and their family.

For us to be able to send private messages (including email addresses), you will need to make a minimum of 3 posts on the forum.  You can just add another two messages saying hi (or whatever) and they will count.  Once that has happened, the green scroll under our names will be active and we can send private messages.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Australia / Ann Daley murdered 24th july 1839
« on: Tuesday 26 August 14 07:00 BST (UK)  »
The records on ancestry are the Registers of Coroners Inquests.  They don't have the actual inquests.  The register comes from State Records so I am guessing they will have the inquests.

Ann's record reads:
516 Paterson 24th July Anne Daly or Daley 10th August Coroner Murder? J Gorman.

If you PM me your email address I can email you the page.

Debbie
