Dumfriesshire / Re: COULTHARD FAMILIES IN DUMFRIES 1820's

Thank you very much Colin. Will look at this more thoroughly in the morning.
Yes that looks like the Sir James Malcolm. The Robert and Thomas are of interest....that fits with the various work information I have uncovered. Can I get back to you please about the W M U abbreviations.
Thanks again,
Good night from Australia !
David

Dumfriesshire / COULTHARD families in Dumfries 1820's
« on: Wednesday 28 July 21 07:14 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I'm looking in to Coulthard's in the Langholm and Canonbie area and also over in Longtown, Cumbria.
There seemed to be an agricultural background with the various Coulthard threads. One family may well have had employment connections with Sir James Malcolm of Canonbie and earlier at Burnfoot.
A young William Coulthard was the first free settler Coulthard to go to South Australia in 1836.

Have had great success in other searches on RootsChat so trying again for my latest project.

Thanks in advance,
SydneyDave

Certainly well looked after SteveJ.
I was very happy to go there and see for myself. A moving experience and especially since I only saw the original memorial a couple of weeks ago.

Hi,
Thanks for replying and your ideas.
The British Consul and others visited the site in 2007 August 4th. I’m thinking that was because the guys are still there and haven’t been moved.

I have seen other mentions of the plaque but so far no details of an incident.
Have tried to post photo but no luck yet. Just won’t go.
Thanks again.
Regards,
David

Will not allow me to send photo.
