Hello,
Its all very interesting and very complicated, yes - perhaps we do have
2 Delisle/Lisle Rule /Rowell/Rouel ?
It's also very interesting to note that the 6th Eniskillen dragoon Regiment's movements,
which Lisle could have joined, were in Newcastle in march and left in april 1834 and they were taken over by the 9th foot regiment in Newcastle. He could have enlisted at this time.
The Eniskillen dragoons were stationed in April 1842 in Birmingham and were involved in policing riots in Dudley - where Frances Hand lived .The regiment was also Stationed in Birmingham in 1845- the year of the Marriage between Delisle and Frances.
I also have Lisle Rule in Army records being a Deserter and Hospitalized in 1844, in Nottingham also Desertion in 1852, and being held at York in 1854 'private Lisle Rule', & being held at Canterbury for 365 day for desertion. Contemporary Newspaper articles following the movements of the regiment these dates and towns.
We have all documented evidence from Census, Newspapers & marriage cert's from West Bromwich:-
1841 census - Frances Hand - age15 - born - Gosport Hamps
Marriage cert - Delisle Rule & Frances Hand 8th sept 1845. Delisle Rule's Father - John Rule (Dead) - stonemason.
Frances and Delisle's First child - Esther Rowell/Rule - born Dec 1847 bapt 1850/and Elizabeth Rowell/Rule born july 1850 bapt oct 1850.
Nothing could be found of Delisle/lisle or Frances Rule /Rowell in the 1851 census in England.
But there was a census, as we know from the other Post on Rootschat in West bromwich for a Joseph Willson and Frances willson with daughters Esther and Elizabeth, ages of the daughters match perfectly - and Lisle born Northumberland and Frances born Gosport Hamps.
In the 1861 Census Frances rule is found with her 2 other daughters - Jane Rule and Julia Rule, Esther and Elizabeth can be found on the 1861 census working as servants not far away from their mother in West bromwich. There was another daughter Mary Rule born 1855 died 1855.
1871 frances and Delisle can not be found.
1871 Jane Rule living with her grandmother Charlotte Hand in west brom. Jane died in 1874.
The next thing i found was a news paper article in 1876 For Frances Rule as follows :-
'Attempted Suicide - Frances Rule the wife of a cab driver in Wednesbury west brom, tried to throw herself under a train, was stopped and taken to hospital showing signs of insanity, she was discharged on the understanding that her husband would take care of her.'
1881 no sign of Delisle - Frances died in 1881.
This is all i have for the moment, i'm still trying to connect all the links together, nothing is certain ,until we connect Lisle's Delisle Birth and parents
thanks for all your help.
