You are right. Thanks.
Found the grave in the Grave Register now.
I appreciate you help.
John

I think 'o G' might perhaps refer to the 'Old' Graveyard, which is on the south side of the road.

You can see some references to burials in section '.. o G' on this page
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CS6T-NDRD?i=398&cat=996903

So my reading of it is that she was buried in section G of the Old Graveyard.
Hi
Hope this is helpful, used during my own research. G is on the left side of the road when you go down the bank between the two cemeteries.

Just wondering whether you care to "push your luck" and try the phone number  :-\  It may or may not work.  Obviously I wouldn't refer to an earlier e-mail enquiry  :-X

Also, looking at your initial post - St Cuthbert - how does that fit in with Our Lady?  I don't know the area or the parishes - so this might be yet another stupid suggestion  :-X

I believe that St Cuthbert's was the original Church at Brooms until it was replaced by Our Lady and St Joseph's.
I think I will try to phone them, or I may visit. Once again thanks for your suggestions

Hi BumbleB, that is the email address I used for my initial contact and they referred me to St Patricks Consett

A possibility - Our Blessed Lady & St Joseph at Brooms  :-\

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leadgate,_County_Durham
Thank you for your reply, it is my guess that she is buried at Our Lady and St Joseph's, Brooms. I believe that St Patricks at Consett keep the records, at least that's where I was directed to and received the reply to my enquiry from. I have also spent a couple of hours walking the graveyard but couldn't find anything, she may be buried in an unmarked grave.

Have you found her husband's burial anywhere? she might have been buried same place.
Thank you for your reply, my Grandfather remarried after her death and died in 1950. I have contacted the Bereavement Services Officer at Durham County Council but unfortunately have no record of his burial either.

Was it reported in a local newspaper?
Thank you for your reply Pauline, no I haven't found it reported in any local Newspaper. I do have her death certificate though

Hi, looking for advice, I am trying to find the grave of my Grandmother Alice Arnold nee Keenan.
She married John William Arnold in December 1909 at St Cuthbert’s Chapel, Brooms, Iveston, Leadgate, County Durham; they lived in Happyland, Leadgate. Alice died at home on the 11th March 1918.
I know they were Roman Catholic and have contacted St Patricks Consett who have no record of burials going back to that date. I have also contacted the Bereavement Services Officer at Durham County Council who, unfortunately have no record of the burial.
Any advice or guidance will be most appreciated
Many thanks in advance

I can only assume that Patricks father was Edward who died in 1866.  Maybe Edward did not know his fathers first name

Thanks again for trying to solve this Rosie. I have even tried starting a Keenan tree to work my way through just that family line and I come to the same results without any alternative that fits the evidence.
Patrick would have been 4 when Edward died so it is conceivable that he could not recall his father's name. I have just had a thought and checked the 1871 census, Patrick and his two brothers, young Edward and Nicholas are living in their brother-in-laws house and his name is John O'Neill so that may be an explanation.
I have learned quite a bit from your help Rosie

Kind Regards

Edit: Patrick was 14 when his father died not 4 as I have stated (my bad counting). As he was living with his brother in law John O'Neill I would guess he is the "John" on the marriage certificate.
