Trying to find his father george Yates a weaver so i can tie the family .
I can only find one and dont know if iam missing something or is it just the one george yates that fits .

Ho everyone 
Well as amazing help to get me started last year for the community,  i have managed to stumble through finding family .
But aim still stuck on my gggp
William Yates born circa1844  , different ages on all forward census.in Manchester.
I cant find a birth record for him.
On his wedding certificate (Catherine McDonnell ) its states father is George Yates a weaver .
I have looked and can only find one that kinda fits but aim just not sure if iam missing something obvious and was hoping another pair of eyes could see if i am .
Hoping to be able to tie him to his father so i can  research his family to try and locate his birth.
Any advise on how i should search for this or any help would be most grateful  recieved.
Just at that point where i dint know where to go .

If you're sure about his name and date of birth, and sure that he was in the Army, then he will be found.  It's quicker if you have a service number, that's the only difference :)

At least his name isn't John Smith ;D

Searching for earlier armed forces relatives does that mean you can search online for them if not in the hands of the MOD ?

I guess i will just try it without although all i have is his name and dob
I dont know anything else
The questions all seem to need service info which sadly  i have none.
Has anyone else got a result with dob and name

Thanks for the prompt replies , had a look at the forms but it say must include  service number and date of birth but after 116 yrs death certificate neded may be waived .
So cant see how i can him as i dont know any service info

Hi fairly new to all this
Need some help on how and where to look for
George edward yates
Born 1902  Manchester
Dies 1969 manchester
The only info i have is from 3 different unrelated people he was a guardsman .
One mentioned guards
2 said grenidier guards of which one said family saw a pic in uniform with the busby .
Non of these have any other information, so any help would be fantastic.

Hi all a little update
Took everyone's advise and gathered all the info and then started searching again.
I found a 1841 census with william and Catherine  macdonald /a blacksmith but says both born Ireland with a 4 month old Mary in Manchester
Unlike the 1851 census that said born London
Also baptism of catherine mcdonald to William and Catherine  MacDonald  22 /7 1846 born Manchester
