Thanks for all you're advice and infromation. Unfortunately all my grandfathers children have passed away and there's only the grandchildren left. We have the Irish Joseph Colquhoun's birth, immigration, marriage and death certificates. But my brother is adamant he was from Scotland and has come up with this other guy. I remember my Father and his brother being adamant their Father was for Scotland. Why would they say that if he was Irish? They weren't the sort of people to joke about such matters. I have no recollection of my Grandfather as he died 6 months before I was born. I'm getting it in 1 ear from my brother thet we're Scottish and in other ear from my cousin that we're Irish. It would be nice to be able to shut 1 of them up.

So here's a new very confusing twist in the Colquhoun saga....My brother has contacted the record keeper at Rhossdhu in Dumbarton, Luss, Scotland who has confirmed that a Joseph Colquhoun was born 10 June 1873, and has verbally confirmed that he (the record keeper) has records that connects this Joseph COlquhoun with Adalaide Bowyer and also Ida Bowyer and Donald Colquhoun. We have know email or paper copy of this. I'm very confused, how can the be 2 people, from 2 different countries both be married to my Grandmother? How can we verify which one is actually our Grandfather?

Charles Alfred Dixon was the first of 16 children born to Hazar Dixon (1846-1916) & Maud Eveline Clark (1858-1932)

Hi Catherine, nice to hear from you. I'm the grand-daughter of Ada Bowyer who had 5 children to Hazar's son Charles Alfred. She also had another 5 children to Joseph Colquhoun who is my grandfather. So I'm not related at all really.  I don't have any information on him other than what's on this site, and info about Charles' descendants. One of my cousin's who is Hazar's great grand-daughter is interested and I could find out if she wants more info.

I'm so grateful for all the work you've all done and everything you've come up with. My cousin Greg (son of James Lawerence) and I want to trace any living cousins we may have) so names of the grandchildren of Joseph, Alice Choat and Ada Rosina would be appreciated. And also names of Joseph's brothers and sisters descendants, we remember socialising with them as kids but have lost touch over the years.

I have found a picture of Ada Rosina's bithstone which says she was died in 1964 aged 80 so that would mean she was born in 1884.
